Calendars for the 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26 School Years and Policy Update
The administration presented the board with proposed changes to the calendars for the 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years. These changes will align the calendars with the language that is featured in the recently ratified agreement with the Hinsdale High School Teachers Association (HHSTA). They will update the calendars to include the early release and district improvement days that are also part of the new agreement with the HHSTA. In addition, they will help the district achieve the following goals:

  • Return to the pre-construction norms regarding the start and end of the school year.
  • Return to the pre-construction timing and duration for breaks/vacations.
  • Resume the administration of first semester final exams prior to winter break.
  • Maintain semesters that feature an approximately equal number of days.

The administration also presented a recommended revision to policy 6:20 (School Year Calendar and Day) that clarifies that the board establishes the school term on an annual basis to meet requirements that are set forth in the law and the district's collective bargaining agreements.
