Two Decades of Ground Protection

You may not have heard of us yet, but GroundGuards has been developing ground protection mats for more than two decades. September means back to school for a lot of us, and it's a good reminder to get back to basics on the jobsite too.

As crews ramp back up after summer and the weather starts to turn, it's worth revisiting the fundamentals that keep a site safe and moving: clear routes, stable footing and equipment that isn't fighting the ground to get where it needs to go.

Ground conditions are one of those basics that's easy to overlook until they become a problem. Soft or shifting ground leads to slower access, stuck equipment, and safety risks that are entirely preventable with the right setup from the start.

A few fundamentals worth checking heading into fall:

  • Are your access routes stable enough to handle wet or soft ground
  • Is equipment able to move without getting stuck or causing ruts
  • Are walkways safe for crews moving on and off site

If any of those feel like a maybe, it might be time for a refresher.
