Without Foster Homes, Dogs Are Left Behind
Every day, shelters across North Carolina reach out to Saving Grace about dogs that need help. Some are small dogs who struggle in a shelter environment. Some are tiny puppies with nowhere to go. Others are recovering from illness, injury, or surgery and need a safe place to heal.
We want to help them all.
But there is one thing these dogs have in common: they can't stay on-site yet and aren't ready for adoption and for these dogs, rescue begins with a foster home.
When foster homes are available, we can say "yes".
When foster homes aren't available, those dogs are left behind.
That's the reality of rescue. Foster families aren't an extra part of our mission. They are an essential part of it.
Many people think someone else will step up. Someone else will foster that puppy litter. Someone else will make room for the dog recovering from surgery. Someone else will help the scared little dog waiting in a shelter kennel.
But rescue depends on ordinary people deciding they will be the someone.
Perhaps you've thought about fostering before and wondered whether you could really make a difference. The answer is yes. In many cases, one foster home is all it takes to turn a shelter dog into a Saving Grace dog.
You don't need to be an expert. You don't need a perfect schedule or a perfect home. You simply need the willingness to open your heart and your home for a short time. Saving Grace provides support, guidance, veterinary care, and a community that will help you every step of the way.
The rewards are extraordinary. You'll watch a shy dog gain confidence. You'll help puppies grow stronger every day. You'll be part of a transformation that ends with a family finding their perfect companion.
And when that dog leaves for their forever home, you'll know something powerful: They got that chance because of you.
The next dog waiting in a shelter needs someone to say yes.
Will it be you?
Don't wait for someone else. Become a foster. Now.
