A Prayer for You.
As you may have noticed, we've skipped sending out a newsletter for June and July. And although we intended to send a monthly newsletter, we are more concerned with sending impactful newsletters that are Holy Spirit-led instead of achieving a vain goal. So, as I sat to review the sermons Sister Denisha had given in July, the Holy Spirit kept bringing one thing to my attention: pray. More specifically, write a prayer that our ministry family can daily refer back to and utilize that encompasses everything God has taught us thus far.
Let's review those things quickly: in January, we briefly touched on love; in February, we talked about character; in March, we talked about gratitude; in April, we talked about the impact of living out our belief; and, in May, we talked about having confidence in God. During in-person services, Sister Denisha also touched on wisdom and re-emphasized the importance of our character and conduct as Believers/Christians/Disciples. With these things in mind, I present a prayer for you:
"Heavenly Father, I humbly come before You with a grateful heart. Thankful for this day, which You have made, being glad and rejoicing. You have prepared this day with everything that I need, so even if I don't have everything I want or what I see that others possess, I will not covet such things in my heart. I am a cheerful receiver of Your kindness toward me. It says in your Word in Psalm 118:8 that it is better to put my trust in You than to put confidence in man, and I understand that 'man' includes me. So today, Lord, I place my worries and cares in Your Almighty Hand. I will not look at what troubles tomorrow can bring when today has enough that requires my attention. You are the Creator and Author of my life, so I know I can trust you with my today, my yesterdays, and my tomorrows. Proverbs 4:7 tells me that wisdom is the principal thing, to get it and understand. I realize it is wise to obey Your commands, trust in Your Word and promises, and honor You with my life; with that, I choose to lean not on my understanding but to acknowledge You and Your sovereignty in all my ways. Father, You correct all who You love; I pray that I bare the fruit of Your correction in my daily walk and that my light shines before men so they may see my good deeds and moral excellence and recognize, honor, and glorify You, My Father, who is in Heaven (Matthew 5:16). In Jesus' Mighty Name, Amen."
