CID Appoints Dan Vicuña

Senior Director of Voting Rights and Redistricting

The Center for Inclusive Democracy (CID) is excited to announce the appointment of Dan Vicuña, J.D., as its Senior Director of Voting Rights and Redistricting. A national leader in redistricting reform and voting rights, Dan will lead CID’s nonpartisan efforts to develop cutting-edge research and policy strategies focused on making government more responsive to the needs of all communities.

Dan joins CID from Common Cause, where he spent 12 years helping lead the organization’s advocacy for voting rights and fair representation. In that role, he collaborated with state and national leaders across the country to advance reforms designed to make government more accountable and responsive to the people.

“Dan is deeply committed to achieving a multiracial and truly representative democracy,” said Mindy Romero, Ph.D., Founder and Executive Director of the Center for Inclusive Democracy. “His work advancing state-level redistricting reforms and legal challenges has been essential to the movement for fair maps and voting rights, helping ensure that the voices of all Americans are represented.”

“CID is an invaluable leader in the civic engagement space because it dedicates its team’s incredible research skills to ensuring that American democracy lives up to our highest ideals,” said Dan Vicuña, Senior Director of Voting Rights and Redistricting. “With the threat of authoritarianism looming over our country and targeting our most vulnerable communities, I can’t imagine a more perfect fit for the next phase of my career. I am thrilled to help lead CID’s work and excited to get started.”

A recognized expert in the field, Dan is frequently featured in major news outlets, including The Washington Post, NBC News, USA Today, and U.S. News & World Report. Previously, Dan served as a staff attorney and Campus Vote Project coordinator at the Fair Elections Legal Network, a national voting rights advocacy organization. Before attending law school, he worked on electoral campaigns and in public policy advocacy for organizations including the League of Conservation Voters and WineAmerica. A native Californian, Dan holds a J.D. from American University and a B.A. in political science from UCLA.

CID is delighted to welcome Dan Vicuña to the team and looks forward to all that we will accomplish together.
