Italy has a pull on us. Rare is the person who doesn't yearn to travel there, and once you've been, the beauty of Italy never fades from your memory, never ceases to tug on your heart. These beautiful paintings by Angela Bandurka will feed that yearning. She will give you an artist's view of not only some familiar places, but also the glimpses of those out-of-the-way spots that catch an artist's eye - that alleyway bathed in soft light or the ancient architecture in a village's piazza. Whether fascinating bird life or gorgeous scenery , the Pacific Northwest is Amanda Houston's inspiration. Creating beauty in both oils and pastels - including her signature pastels on copper - Amanda enjoys demonstrating the relationships of color, composition and texture in her paintings. She revels in the beauty that surrounds us in the Northwest, and as an impressionist, is drawn especially to the moment when light is most dramatic. Light... caught in the iridescence of a Rufous hummingbird... in the final rays of sunset glancing across the sky... in intense colors of summer shadows... and in the diffuse cool light of a winter day. This theme runs through her paintings in this show, and we invite you to come and see this beauty for yourself.
