Psalm 106:1 says, “Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” Not only does His mercy endure forever, but that mercy is renewed each and every day. There is a fresh supply of His mercy waiting for us even before we wake up. Lamentations 3:22-23 says, “Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning. Great is Your faithfulness.”
During Lent we are confronted with the seriousness of our sin and the price that was paid by the Son of God, our King Jesus, at the cross. As we dive deep into the Scriptures and into the presence of Christ, our sinful nature, our sinful actions, our sinful attitudes and even the blind spots in our spirit that contain unintentional or unnoticed sin are revealed. It could be overwhelming except for the fact that God mercy towards us is supplied each and every day from the unlimited storehouse of His grace.
Our first of three Holy Convocations is behind us. The next will take place on Wednesday, March 15, at 6:00pm as we gather for our midweek service. I hope you will mark your calendars and plan to join us for all of our special Lent services, including our every morning gatherings during Holy Week (the week before Easter) and our Good Friday Communion Service which will be Friday, April 7. Refer to your Parkview Lent Guide (available in digital form at the Lent link below) for details.
I am looking forward to spending time in the gospel of Mark this week. In Mark 11, Jesus enters Jerusalem to the praise of the crowds shouting, “Hosanna!” By the end of that same week, those same crowds will be shouting, “Crucify Him!” I hope you will make every effort to join us as we journey with Jesus to the cross over the next several weeks. We meet at 9:30am and 11:00am every Sunday morning.
Please be sure to scroll down and check out the links to some of the upcoming events that might interest you. Thank you for you faithfulness and your generosity to the work here at Parkview. We look forward to seeing you Sunday.
Sincerely,
Pastor Mike
