Hello, Y’s Men!
Y’s Membership Report
April, 2025
Membership Numbers:
537 Members
9 In Renewal (excluded from member count)
2 Applicants pending payment
99 New members signed this fiscal year
56 Deleted (death, relocation, non-pay)
Commentary: The membership revenue target has been exceeded. The membership database is cleansed of deceased members and non-pays. Returning members from warmer climates may request to reinstate their memberships. To address this, it may be wise to introduce a reinstatement fee to offset administrative costs and discourage frequent lapses.
Looking ahead, economic factors could impact Y’s Men. While Connecticut’s economy remains strong, S&P has noted that anticipated federal funding cuts will likely increase community needs. (Thanks to Jim Marpe for his review and input.) Why it matters:
• Social connections are critical for mental and physical health.
• As government funding declines, organizations like Y’s Men can fill the gap with volunteer capacity and community-focused initiatives.
The opportunity:
• Y’s Men offers an outsized value: $2.40 weekly dues cover unlimited coffee, a donut or bagel, 35 activities, and fellowship—a compelling pitch for new members.
• By aligning with emerging community needs, Y’s Men can deepen its impact in
Westport and Weston while boosting member engagement.
Bottom line:
Leveraging its network and human capital, Y’s Men can navigate economic challenges while increasing its value to members and the broader community.
