I want to start by thanking the PTSA for planning and coordinating a wonderful Winter Bash. The students and staff enjoyed the night! The ticket purchase costs will help support the 8th grade end-of-year celebration.
This week we will be welcoming parents of rising 6th graders on Monday from 6-7pm. This is always an exciting time for me as a principal to help parents of rising middle schoolers learn all about what we offer. Our basketball team will play at College Park Middle on Monday as well. If you were not able to attend the last game, you missed an “Instant Classic” as Will McCurdy hit two free throws with no time left on the clock to win the game 27-26. Hopefully both the boys and girls can win their final game of the season by a little larger margin, Monday.

We were unable to get the final free throw shots, but here are the before (just above) and after (very top) pictures from the boys' Maitland game. Will McCurdy sealed the deal with no time left and our students stormed the court. Not quite NCAA championship level, but the excitement in the gym was palpable!

Thursday evening, we will have our SAC meeting in the Media Center beginning at 6:30. All families are welcome to attend. Our students will receive their third quarter progress reports on Thursday too. Remember that this is just a snapshot of your student’s progress, and the grades on the progress report are already a week old. The best way to check your student’s performance is by checking Skyward regularly.
Last week, we started selling tickets for our 8th grade trip to Universal Studios.
We are looking at alternative vendors that other local schools are using to reduce the cost of this trip. I cannot guarantee that they will be able to accommodate us, but I am hopeful that we will have a lower final cost by the end of the week. If you purchased a ticket already, and we can get a price reduction, the school will refund the difference. Thank you to those of you that reached out.
Finally, remember that there is no school on February 19th as we celebrate Presidents Day. Have a wonderful week!
