THE COUNTY OF SAN DIEGO UNANIMOUSLY PASSES GROUNDBREAKING NEURODIVERSE WORKFORCE INITIATIVE
Thank you ATPF Family - we did it! It’s official - the County of San Diego will be launching the first public Neurodiversity Workforce Initiative of its kind! This groundbreaking legislation championed by Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer passed with an unanimous 5-0 vote on June 14, 2022!
Supervisor Lawson Remer's legislation marks a substantial step in supporting our neurodivergent community, by aiming to increase the county's recruitment and outreach efforts to neurodivergent individuals, including autistic adults, by 2030. This initiative was a first step in establishing the City of San Diego as a national leader in hiring autistic individuals.
ATPF was honored to be a part of this historical day and work on this legislation with Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer’s incredible team this year. Together we did something remarkable: over 800 people, including many of YOU, all posted e-comments in support, which is the most comments in favor of any agenda item in the entirety of Supervisor Lawson-Remer’s tenure! Special thanks to Meghan Elledge, the entire San Diego County Board of Supervisors and YOU!
