3 things to know

1. We need your input for the Langley principal selection process! Input deadline is extended till tomorrow, Fri, Sept 27. Click here to give feedback on the skills, experience, and leadership characteristics the Langley community would like to see in the next principal.

2. Can you spare two hours to talk to Langley students about your career? Our annual Career Connections is on Thurs, Nov 21, 2024 from 9:30-11:30 am. This is a great event for students to hear from seasoned professionals about their career path and advice for high school students. Sometimes that advice is simply not to worry about a specific course! We are in need of several parents or community members to make this event a success. Complete the registration form or contact us with any questions at langleycareerconnection@gmail.com as soon as possible.

3. Our first Saxon Service is tomorrow, Fri at 10:30 am. Just come to the cafeteria by 10:30 if you're interested in supporting this great program to help students make a difference in their communities.

saxons make history: The Langley football team made history as it raced to an early lead on Friday night. The Saxons continued their strong start to the season with a 48-7 win over visiting Justice in McLean. The Saxons shut out rejuvenated Oakton, 17-0, to open the season before topping Herndon, 18-15. The Saxons have outscored Edison and Justice 91-13 in their two most recent victories and reached 4-0, the first 4-0 record since 1986 and the third time since the school opened in 1965. Read all about it in this article in The Washington Post.

students shine at international thespian festival: Saxon Stage students traveled to Bloomington, Indiana, in June for the six-day International Thespian Festival. Throughout the event, they participated in a variety of workshops to enhance their craft. Our talented students also took part in the Thespys, showcasing their skills in acting and technical theatre. For students to participate at this level they must receive a superior at their state level. We had 15 performances and technical presentations that qualified!

Katie Murchison (Graduated '24) was the winner in Costume Construction and received a medal on the mainstage during closing ceremonies

The following students received a Superior rating:

Jenny Mears - Stage Management

Anna Jordan - Sound Design

Zachary Ulman - Solo Musical Theatre

The following students received an Excellent rating:

Ava Carter - Solo Musical Theatre

Daniel Qiu - Solo Musical Theatre

This experience was invaluable for our students, and we can't wait to bring what they've learned back to our community!
