Be an Encourager

1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NLT®)

Encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

A friend once showed me a message written on a faded pink sticky note that said: “I’m looking forward to what God has in store for you!” Her husband had put it on her bathroom mirror one day several years ago. She had left the company where she had worked for many years and had no idea what the future held. Her husband didn’t know either, but he knew that God had a plan for her. He knew she was discouraged and needed to hear from someone who had some hope to share. She found another job, and the note was no longer sticky. But she keeps that little paper where she can see it every day to remember the goodness of God. Don’t ever underestimate the power of an encouraging word. We know God is good, and we know He has a plan. But during those times when His plan is hard to see, it’s good to hear from someone with hope to share. Your words of encouragement don’t need to be profound. They can be as simple as saying, “I’m looking forward to what God has in store for you!”

THINK ABOUT IT

Think of someone who made an enormous impact on your life by offering an encouraging word when you most needed it. Are you willing to do that for someone else?

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, thank You for when You have brought voices of encouragement to me, giving me hope and strength. I want to do that for others. Lead me to the people You would like me to encourage on Your behalf. May my life reflect Your love and bring hope to those You desire to bless. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Blessings,

Pastor Allen Jackson
