At this meeting we’ll go over lots of important information about practices, uniform kits, team-level volunteer roles needed, and more. We’ll also have short break out sessions by coach to go over team business.

Don’t miss this important season kickoff!

New teams = new team names📝

If you’re already feeling nostalgic for the simplicity of birth-year team organization, you’re not alone! We are figuring it out! With the switch to grade-aligned age groups, we need to change how we name our teams. We’re adopting the “U” system, where the U stands for “under.” We’re also changing from M and F for male and female, to G and B for girls’ and boys’ teams.

Example: If your player was on an F13 team, she and her teammates are likely to now be on a GU14 team (girls under 14) if their birthdays are January to July 2013, or a GU13 team (girls under 13) if their birthdays are August to December 2013. Teams designated as U14 are meant to correspond to players entering 8th grade this fall; U13 teams to players entering 7th grade, though we recognize this won’t be accurate for all players.

Team managers and treasurers needed!

Speaking of new teams, many of our newly-formed teams will need managers and team-level treasurers. If you want to be a hero for your player’s team and a key partner to the team’s coach, please consider raising your hand. Talk with your player’s coach if you can volunteer to fill one of these key roles. Thank you!

⚽Spring tryouts – wrapped⚽

Some 750 players came out to our spring tryouts, competing for spots on our GU11 to GU19 teams, our BU13 to BU15 EA teams, and our BU11 to BU15 Green/White/Blue teams, plus to join our U8 to U10 Development Program. WOW! Thank you to all the players who tried out, the parents who brought them, and the volunteers who helped with check-in, pinny distrubtion, and more. Special thanks to our coaching staff who put in many hours tackling the tricky job of evaluating players and composing teams. Whew!

Call for Board nominations

Emerald City FC is a non-profit organization governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Club is seeking candidates for two Board openings: one General Membership Director (2-year term), and Vice President of Membership (1-year term). To nominate yourself or someone else for one of the two positions, email Board president Patrick Negron at president@emeraldcityfc.org by May 22, 2026. Include the nominee’s name and contact info, position sought, and a brief bio that includes reasons for interest in serving and any applicable skills or experience. For more information about the board and the two open positions, refer to Patrick’s email from May 8, sent via Teamsnap. No prior board experience is necessary; only a desire to support our players and our club.

Three cheers for all our of our teams who competed in the Washington Cup state tournament in April and May. Well done!!
