DMCC Explorers: The Barnes Exhibit at the Oceanside Museum of Art
Thursday, May 9th
10:30am - 2pm
Del Mar Community Building
Join DMCC and Sandy and Bram Dijkstra for a tour of the Matthew Barnes: Painter of the Night exhibit at the Oceanside Museum of Art. Once San Francisco's best-known modernists and avidly collected by East Coast patrons, Matthew Barnes is enjoying recognition again after languishing in obscurity since his death in 1951 thanks to the current vogue for dark Surrealism. Bram Dijkstra (a noted art scholar and author) and Sandra Dijkstra have amassed the largest private collection of Barnes' work and lent OMA 20 of the exhibited works. Meet at the Del Mar Community Building (225 9th St) at 10:30am and the DMCC van will take everyone to OMA, then enjoy a tour of the exhibit with the Dijkstras. Afterwards, join the group for a no-host lunch before returning to Del Mar. Space is very limited! Please RSVP as soon as possible at (858) 792-7565 or  dmcc@dmcc.cc .
