October at the Concert Hall

One of the things I’ve always loved about this job is never quite knowing what will be coming through our doors next. October is a perfect example.

This month, the Concert Hall presents The Young Fables and Cirque Mechanics: TILT! — two very different performances and two great reasons to spend an evening with us. I love that we can welcome talented singer-songwriters to our stage one night and then completely transform the Hall for a show like TILT!.

And there’s even more happening here. Be sure to check out the performances presented by other organizations in our community. We’re proud that the Concert Hall can be a place where so many of our local arts groups share their work and bring people together.

That’s really what this place is about — gathering together and experiencing something we might not otherwise get to see right here in Durango.

I hope you’ll join us this month. I’ll see you at the Hall.

Spend an Evening with The Young Fables

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beautiful harmonies, heartfelt songs, and stories that come from real life — The Young Fables bring their blend of country-pop and roots music to the Community Concert Hall on October 21 at 7:30 p.m.
Featuring vocalist Laurel Wright and guitarist-songwriter Wesley Lunsford, the Tennessee duo has built a following with music that feels both personal and familiar. Their songs explore love, loss, family, resilience, and mental health, finding connection in the experiences we all share.
Wright and Lunsford first performed together when he stepped in after her guitarist canceled a show. The musical connection was immediate, and what began as one performance grew into a songwriting partnership and eventually The Young Fables.
Along the way, they’ve earned praise from Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban and Travis Tritt, shared stages with Vince Gill and Amy Grant, Rascal Flatts, Randy Houser and others, and were personally invited by Shania Twain to appear on the television series Real Country. Their documentary, The Fable of a Song, also earned the Audience Choice Award at the Nashville Film Festival.
Come settle in for an evening of great music, beautiful harmonies, and stories worth hearing.
Step Right Up for Cirque Mechanics: TILT!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Remember the thrill of an amusement park — the lights, the music, the midway games, and that moment when the ride starts moving?

Cirque Mechanics brings all of it to the Community Concert Hall with TILT! on November 12 at 7:30 p.m.

Inspired by the sights, sounds, and playful spirit of a 1980s amusement park, TILT! combines jaw-dropping acrobatics, aerial artistry, juggling, humor, and some pretty incredible human-powered machinery.

And at the center of it all? A giant human-powered Ferris wheel.

The newest production from the acclaimed theatrical circus company transforms the stage into a whimsical amusement park filled with inventive contraptions, daring performers, and plenty of surprises. Along the way, TILT! tells the story of a weary amusement park worker whose chance encounter with a guest — and a confiscated boom box — sends the two on an unexpected adventure.

With performers from the worlds of circus, gymnastics, dance and clowning, TILT! is fast-moving, imaginative and just plain fun. Bring the family, bring a friend, and come ready to be amazed.
