The Campaign for Chanco
Challenge Match Success!
All Glory Be to God! The Chanco Board and staff are pleased to announce that, inspired by the $300,000 diocesan challenge match, more than $420,000 in new gifts and pledges were received in the last months of 2021. We are incredibly grateful to all our friends and parishes who responded with such astounding generosity. Current donors stretched beyond their original pledges with an increase and new donors joined the campaign family with their gifts. Parishes already committed gave additional gifts and new parishes joined. Thank you.

Special gratitude is extended to our dynamic Campaign Executive Committee. The Rev. David Davenport, Chair; Talley Banazek, Campaign Director; Gareth Kalfas, Executive Director; Nancy Beach, Board Chair; the Rev. Charlie Bauer; Sally Cox; Dave Belote; Bob Frady; the Rev. Peter Hogg; Chuck Marks; Jim Marquette; Kathy Nolen-Martin; and the Rev. Carter Sinclair have given thousands of hours of time to this campaign since 2016, when the campaign organization began. We cannot thank these dedicated volunteers enough. Thank you, good and faithful servants.
We greatly appreciate Bishop Holly Hollerith and Bishop Jay Magness for their leadership in the beginning and to Bishop Susan Haynes for her leadership now. We thank the Diocese of Southern Virginia for their initial lead gift at the very beginning of The Campaign for Chanco and their challenge match gift toward the end that literally propelled us to the finish line. With the support of our bishops, clergy, diocesan leadership, parishes, donors, staff, and volunteers, we have achieved far beyond the initial $2.5 million-dollar campaign goal to more than $4.2 million and we are humbled and grateful. Thank you to our entire Chanco and diocesan community – you have ensured Chanco’s ministry for generations to come. And as the old adage goes, “without you Chanco is just a bunch of sticks in the woods.”
