State House of Representatives Action Alert on
Early Childhood Task Force Bill
Ask Representatives to Vote "YES" to ACCEPT SENATE AMENDMENTS AND THEN "YES" TO PASS THE BILL!
House Bill 1979, which is one of the bills on THE CHILDREN'S LEGISLATIVE AGENDA, IS ONLY TWO STEPS FROM THE GOVERNOR'S DESK.
The bill has passed both the House of Representatives and Senate. All that remains is for the House to accept the Senate's amendments and then pass the bill on Fourth Reading. That will send the bill to Governor Stitt.
This Action Alert is to encourage child advocates from across the state to contact the members of the House of Representatives and ask them to "VOTE YES" to accept the Senate amendments, and then to "VOTE YES" on Fourth Reading and final passage.
The bill creates a task force to review Oklahoma's early childhood programs and recommend a structure to improve access, coordination and delivery of high-quality early childhood services.
Creation of such a task force was a component of Governor Stitt's Child Welfare Task Force in 2023
Remember to always be polite and be brief. Chances are you will not be able to speak directly to the representative you call, but your concerns will be taken down and shared with them.
Thank you in advance for your advocacy, and should you have any questions about the bill or its impact, contact OICA Policy Director Greg Sawyer at gsawyer@oica.org.
