Spreading the Word

Dear Friend,

The next step of my author journey involved putting The Truth Was Different in front of historians, famous authors, Podcasters, newspaper editors, magazine editors, and more. Authors need publicity because people don't read what they don't know about. In the very paraphrased words of a short bald guy with bad eyesight who lived about 2000 years ago, how will they know if no one tells them? So, grab a nice drink, settle into a cozy chair, and relax as you follow more of the saga of what it takes to be an author.

Having written the book, I researched historians who study the subjects covered in this narrative nonfiction book and also found famous authors who write in the same genre. Then I wrote about 30 emails requesting reviews. Maybe more.

Next, I looked up Podcasts that cover WWII, the Netherlands, family sagas, women, Judaism, Christianity, and more. Anything related to the book. Another 30 or so emails went out.

Then it was time to approach newspapers and magazines in any of the cities where I've lived. Why not? Couldn't hurt. Might help. 30 more emails.

Of course, I kept a record of whom I approached, when, and how they responded. If they didn't respond within a month, I wrote again, but only once. So, my emailer (if that's a word) was BUSY!

The result was very encouraging. Several prominent historians and authors, plus a very famous historian and podcaster, asked for a copy of the book to review. Newspaper reporters and magazine editors from around the world set up phone interviews or requested an advance copy of the book. Keep your eyes open; you may see reviews of or articles about The Truth Was Different around!

The book is available for preorder! You can order the hardback on Amazon and the paperback directly from me at books.by/rrbooks.
