Action Item: Community Service Day Registration

Xavier High School’s annual Community Service Day is November 8, 2023. This is a wonderful day of service for our Saints out in the community. All students must be registered by their parents in order to participate.

Parents need to complete their student(s) registration for Community Service Day by Monday, October 2. 

Please also consider joining us as a parent driver for the day! This day is not possible without the volunteers who are willing to drive our students. It is a great day of service and fun! *We are in need of extra drivers this year due to buses being unavailable. 

The rain makeup date will be Monday, November 13th

Focus Time and Eligibility (No Progress Reports)

In case you didn’t make it to a parent meeting this year or catch the slides shared from these meetings, we wanted to make sure you are aware of some updates about eligibility. 

• Students on academic deficiency (D- or below) in two or more classes for consecutive weeks will be required to attend Focus Time for a minimum of one hour each week until they are off deficiency. 
• Time not served within one week will result in double the minutes the following week. Time not served over a two week period will lead to the student not being able to participate or attend activities until time is served. 
• Eligibility only comes into play during the semester if a student is deficient in more than one class and does not serve Focus Time after school, a time designated for them to get the assistance they need.

Key Club Registration

Key Club is an international organization that provides its members with opportunities to provide service, build character, and develop leadership by serving children and our communities. Senior members set a goal of 10 service hours and freshmen, sophomores, and juniors set a goal for 8 service hours through our events. A parent or guardian may sign up each student for Key Club by paying the $15 dues here: 8to18.

The deadline to sign up for Key Club is October 2nd. Please use your student's Xavier e-mail address in the student e-mail section. Any questions about Key Club may be directed to the Key Club Moderator, Mrs. Barb Wright at barb.wright@xaviersaints.org

Homecoming Dance Reminder

The Homecoming Dance will be held Saturday, October 7th from 8:00 PM to 10:30 PM at Xavier High School. Tickets ($7 each or $5 with donation of 2 canned goods) will go on sale the week of September 25th.

Students who wish to bring a date from a school other than Xavier will need to have an approved non-Xavier date form submitted before they may purchase tickets. More details will be shared as the date gets closer.

Blood Drive Reminder (9/28)

Xavier will be hosting a Blood Drive on Thursday, September 28th from 9:30am to 1:00pm in the Gym Balcony. Parents can earn Community Points for their child by donating, and each donor receives a gift. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins are welcome also this year. Any questions, please contact Kris.Naeve@xaviersaints.org

The Community Store is now open and will be available until Friday, Sept. 29th. This is the place to grab an extra community shirt, a long sleeve shirt or a sweatshirt for those cold days at Xavier! Violence Intervention: Stand Up 4 Peace

October Kairos Now Open to Seniors

The Kairos retreat (the junior retreat) is October 12-15 and now open to any seniors who didn't get the chance to go last year and would like the opportunity this year. This is the only Kairos we will be opening up to seniors, so please consider it now! Any questions, contact lilly.boenker@xaviersaints.org.

• The retreat will be held at Ridgehaven Cono Camp in Walker, IA.
• It begins at 3:30 PM Thursday and concludes Sunday afternoon.
• The cost $175. Registration is taken through 8to18.
