What your kids will remember |

Morning Bill,
First off want to say how pleased I am with results and your team. Down to 180 this morning from 205 and if your scale is accurate, have gained at least 5 lbs of muscle as of last check a few weeks ago.
Really want to focus on composition now…

That's awesome! Super excited for you. This is the whole purpose of Huemn.

Twenty-five pounds down. At least five pounds of muscle gained. And now he wants to get even more precise about his body composition. I love that.
He's 49, right around my age. He told me that before all this, it had always been in the back of his mind that he'd have a dad bod for the rest of his life. It blew his mind that he could get back to where he was in his 30s, and do it at almost 50.
But here's the part that stuck with me. A few days earlier, I'd been talking with him while he was dropping off his daughter. He's doing all of this so he can be there for his kids, for as long as he possibly can.
And his daughter is watching him do it. I tell parents this all the time:
|
“Your kids won't remember what you told them about discipline. They'll remember watching you live a healthy life, working out, sleeping and taking care of your health.”

They learn it by watching you
Your kids pick up your habits long before they listen to your advice. The workout you keep on the calendar. The bedtime you protect. The protein at breakfast. The recovery you make time for, like a session in the red light bed or a few minutes of cryotherapy. The blood work you actually schedule. When they see you do it year after year, it becomes their normal.
That's true whether you're a mom, a dad, a grandparent or the aunt everyone looks up to. Someone in your life is learning what healthy looks like by watching you.

What you do at 45 shows up at 80
We talked about something I think about a lot. I'm 48, and what I do in my 40s is setting the stage for what my 70s, 80s and 90s look like. The same is true for you.
Did you know the fat around your middle behaves like an organ? The deep belly fat that wraps around your organs pumps out inflammatory signals around the clock. That's the same inflammation I've written to you about before, the kind I track with my hs-CRP, and carrying it for decades is one of the fastest ways to age badly.
The dad bod Belly fat that keeps inflammation running around the clock |
The goal Less fat, more muscle, and a lot less inflammation |
So the dad bod is more than a joke. Losing it is one of the best things you can do for the person your grandkids get to know.

His plan, and his next question
His plan paired peptides with a small dose of a GLP-1. GLP-1 medications are part of a lot of weight-loss plans now, and the research keeps getting more interesting. In a large trial called SELECT, semaglutide cut heart attacks, strokes and cardiovascular deaths by 20% in adults with overweight and existing heart disease, and none of them had diabetes. That's a big reason people have started talking about GLP-1s as longevity drugs.
Now look at the last line of his text. He wants to focus on composition. That's the right question. Muscle is what keeps you strong, steady on your feet and independent at 80, and weight loss that takes your muscle with it leaves you weaker. So we track body composition, push protein and strength training, and adjust the plan with your provider as you go. That's exactly the conversation he and I are having next.

Why this is the whole point
I think about this with my own girls. I want them to grow up watching me take care of myself, so it's just normal to them.
Messages like his are why we do this. When you get healthier, your kids get more of you. Your spouse gets more of you. You show up differently at work and in your community. And your kids carry those habits into their own families. It trickles down.
That's the mission of Huemn in one text message. We're here to help you be better for the people you love, for as long as possible.
You don't have to wait for a scare. Start now, while you have the most runway to change how the next 40 years go.
Maybe it's your husband or your dad who needs to hear this. Forward him this letter. And moms, everything here applies to you too. Whoever it's for, we'd love to help you get going.

Ready to start? Whether it's for you, your husband or your dad, the best first step is a symptom consult with Michael Blanco, MSN, APRN, or Shawn Sepassi, APRN, FNP-C. They'll go over your symptoms and goals and help you build your plan, in clinic or virtually. The consult is $99. Tell us the day and time that work for you, and we'll reach out to confirm. |

|
New, lower GLP-1 pricing
If a GLP-1 ends up being part of your plan, we just made it more affordable with two new memberships:
Momentum $199 every four weeks Semaglutide, up to 1.5 mg |
|
Breakthrough $299 every four weeks Tirzepatide, up to 7.5 mg |
|
Both include four injections every 28 days and an InBody body composition scan, so you can watch the muscle you're keeping, just like our member did. Michael or Shawn will help you decide if one is right for you at your consult.
