The high demand for construction services means our crafts and crews are constantly changing. In the Portland metro area, we have a stable, professional, experienced craft community that has long embraced injury-free workplace concepts and practices. However, the volume of construction requires continual introduction of new apprentices and travelers and can affect our strong safety culture.
SafeBuild Alliance is committed to bringing awareness and resources to our members in promoting zero incidents through collaboration. We want to help supervisors lead new members of our construction community to quickly embrace our vibrant safety culture.
Our next event will bring together industry field supervisors in a Supervisor Leadership Roundtable to share common concerns, challenges, and best practices to enhance safety culture and familiarize field leaders with SafeBuild Alliance. The roundtable event is March 15th from 3PM to 4:30PM at McMenamins Kennedy School where we will request two or more of your supervisors participate in the roundtable.
In preparation, SafeBuild is seeking feedback from field leaders (Foremen, General Foremen, Superintendents, Crew Leaders, etc.) through a brief survey. The survey will be anonymous unless the participant elects to share their information, and will help us create a valuable, vibrant event.
Why a Field Supervisor Roundtable?
Our objectives are to:
Establish a dialog with field leadership across trades and contractors
Create greater awareness of SafeBuild amongst field leaders and craft
Have a focused discussion on building and improving safety culture
How can you help?
We are asking firms - GCs & all trades - to select 2-4 Foremen/Field Supervisors to participate by 1-20-23by adding their information to this document:
Communicate the upcoming facilitated roundtable event and importance of the survey with the selected field leaders and requesting their physical attendance and participation in our event
Note: The survey will be sent to those field leaders you selected during the week of January 23rd along with one additional reminder.
Please contact SafeBuild Executive Director Jason Oliver or Board Secretary Amme Standring if you have questions about the event.
Thank you in advance for your support in helping build a strong safety culture in the Pacific Northwest!
