The Greater Alton Chamber of Commerce had the privilege of attending Financing Sustainability at Quinta Mazatlán, an engaging discussion on how financial incentives can drive energy efficiency and sustainable growth in both public and private sectors.
Our own City Manager, Jeff Underwood, joined featured speakers to share success stories and practical insights on funding sustainability initiatives that make a lasting impact across our region.

SALES TAX WORKSHOP
We recently attended a Sales Tax Workshop that brought together city leaders from across — and beyond — the Rio Grande Valley. Hosted by the Texas EDC, the session covered key topics in economic and community development, including permissible projects under current law and recent updates to the Economic Development Sales Tax Law.
Workshops like these help ensure that Alton continues to make informed, strategic decisions that foster growth and opportunity for our community

Event Recap: Viva Tech
Recently, we had the privilege of joining a luncheon with several regional economic development centers, city leaders, local business owners and representatives from Europe's largest event for innovation and technology, Viva Technology.
The conversation focused on how we can bring our South Texas region into the spotlight at VivaTech 2026. Together, we shared ideas on how to strengthen our region, attract new businesses, and showcase the RGV’s unique strengths on a global stage.
