MAYOR'S UPDATE
From the desk of Mayor Rika Levin
In case you missed it … Last week, OPD and OUFSD (with the help of the Elks Lodge & DJ Johnny G) hosted a Bike Day in downtown Ossining. We closed Spring Street from Broad to Lafayette for our community to bike, skate, and scoot. There was a great turnout, and if the smiles on the kid’s faces are any indication, fun was had by all! This is but one example of community outreach developed by our police department. If you want to learn more, please follow the Ossining Police Department on Facebook.
This week we have more awesome entertainment for the whole family. It’s free and open to the public.
  • Tuesday (tonight): Comedian Ned Gelfars as part of the Summer Entertainment Series on July 27 @ 7 PM at Henry Gourdine Park
  • Wednesday: Mike Risko Band as part of the Family Summer Entertainment Series on July 28 @ 7 PM at Market Square
  • Friday, July 30: Food Truck Friday & Concert Series presents: Base Camp. Food trucks open at 5 PM, and music begins at 7 PM
Be sure to grab dinner from one of Ossining's local eateries, a lawn chair, and of course your family and friends - and we'll see you there!
The Board of Trustees and Village Manager’s office is here to hear from our constituents about issues large and small. We encourage this continued dialogue on issues that matter to you, including quality of life issues. To this end, we have had some complaints and helpful suggestions on improving our garbage pickup schedules, keeping the parks litter-free, power-washing the sidewalks and garbage cans on the busiest pedestrian streets in our Village and our parks. I am happy to report that beginning this week, Village staff has doubled down on beautifying our Village and finding solutions to the increase in the quantity of litter, especially in our business districts. The Village is cleaning out the tree wells, assigning more personnel on the weekends, power-washing the garbage cans and sidewalks; from the waterfront to upper Croton Ave. We are also adding more staff time on the weekends for code enforcement. As always, feel free to reach out to your Village Board at BOT@VillageofOssining.org.
We are fortunate to have 13 volunteer-driven boards and councils who help make our Village a better place. This week, we have a full agenda, starting with an update from one of our most active committees -- the Landlord Tenant Relations Council. Please tune in to hear what your neighbors have been doing to impact change in our community.

The Board will also get a final presentation on the Mobility and Parking Study. This presentation will be focused on the latest round of public engagement.

Members of the community might also be interested in the following topics in front of the Board of Trustees.

This week’s work session will be in person at 16 Croton Avenue in the Board Room. We will also stream via Zoom for those community members/ consultants who wish to watch/participate from home.  Work Session Agenda - Jul 28 2021
