Railroad Grade Separation Feasibility Study- Final Report

In the Fall of 2023, the MPO initiated a grade separation feasibility study for railroad crossings in Indian River County. The study was performed by Marlin Engineering and analyzed all at-grade railroad crossings within the County. The Marlin team utilized quantitative and qualitative metrics to identify possible grade separation locations. While the study identified several crossings as feasible locations for grade separation, only the 85th Street (CR 510) crossing is a candidate for an overpass at this time. This was the first grade separation study since 1999. To view the study, please click the link below.

2055 Florida Transportation Plan - Public Meeting

The Florida Transportation Plan (FTP) is a comprehensive statewide blueprint guiding Florida's 30-year transportation future. Updated every five years, the FTP is a collaborative effort of state, regional, and local transportation partners in the public and private sectors. The FTP lays the foundation for investments in FDOT’s Work Program, and will be a plan in which Florida’s communities can see themselves and our stakeholders can use to develop their transportation plans and strategies.

Please consider attending the regional workshop in Port St. Lucie next Wednesday!

TCPalm - Oslo Road I-95 Interchange Project Continues

TCPalm recently published, "$95.8 Million Oslo Road I-95 interchange project continues in Indian River County." This photo article was published nearly a year to the day of the project's ribbon cutting attended by local leaders, state partners, and even the FDOT District Secretary in August of 2023. Over the last year, significant progress has been made on the new interchange as well as widening Oslo Road from 58th Avenue to I-95. Please see Kaila Jones' photojournalism in the article below. Additionally, if you can't access the TCPalm article, please see below a few recent photos of the project taken by MPO Staff.

There's a New Bus in Town (Actually Three)

Three new GoLine buses were recently purchased with grant dollars from the Federal Transit Administration. Through this grant program, each vehicle was purchased entirely with federal dollars.

Two of the buses are 35 foot long Gillig Low-Floor Heavy Duty Buses, which can seat 32 passengers. These two vehicles will be added to routes 2 and 4 -- the two busiest routes on the network. The third bus is a 29 foot long Gillig Low-Floor Heavy Duty Bus, which seats 28 passengers. This vehicle will serve route 6.

The new buses have all the amenities of the existing fleet including GPS for the mobile application (so people can see where the bus is in real time), audio/visual security cameras so staff can monitor what is happening on each bus in real time, automatic passenger counters, and voice annunciators for each stop. Additionally, these vehicles are equipped with wheelchair ramps.
