THIS WEEK IN HOUSTON

July 9–13, 2025

Summer’s still sizzling, but I’m already working on my Fall Arts Preview! If you have exhibitions, performances, or events happening this September through November, submit them by Friday, July 18 to be considered.

Now, back to this week: things kick off today with a closing curator tour of the Joe Overstreet exhibition at the Menil Collection, fresh vinyl sets at Hotel Saint Augustine, and Friday night packed with back-to-back gallery openings.

Saturday brings everything from yoga + art and invasive plant removal to artist talks and a Rick Lowe–juried show at Archway Gallery.

Sunday brings live performances to MATCH, with new works by composers from around the globe, and the ever-irreverent Tamarie Cooper returning with another wildly entertaining musical—a beloved Houston summer tradition.

Scroll down for this week’s highlights and visit my website to submit your events or explore more.

P.S. Are you on Substack? Follow me on Substack AND subscribe for free for now. Currently, it is a shorter version of this newsletter (read today's post), but stay tuned as I figure out how to supplement what I am already doing by taking deeper dives into Houston's lively art scene!
