Thank You for Making PJs for Safe Sleep Day a Success

What an incredible day!

Thank you to every partner, organization, school, healthcare team, and community member who participated in PJs for Safe Sleep Day. From coast to coast, we saw pajamas worn with purpose, all helping to spark important conversations about how and where babies sleep.

Your photos, posts, and participation helped bring safe sleep awareness into workplaces, classrooms, hospitals, and homes. These moments matter. They help normalize safe sleep practices and ensure families are hearing clear, consistent guidance from trusted voices in their communities.

We were also proud to host our Safe Sleep Champions webinar in recognition of the day, featuring Maura Hanke from Charlie’s Kids and Dani Morin. This meaningful conversation explored misinformation, prevention, and how we can better support families through both community outreach and digital platforms.

If you were not able to join us live, the webinar recording is now available to watch and share with your teams and communities.

PJs for Safe Sleep Day showed what is possible when we come together with a shared mission. Thank you for your commitment to helping every baby sleep safer.

Pre-Conference Training: KIDS Network Safe Sleep Instructor Certification

This year’s conference offers a valuable opportunity to deepen your impact through the KIDS Network Safe Sleep Instructor Certification, a nationally recognized, best-practice training for healthcare and community professionals.

This two-day, in-person training will be held September 28–29, 2026, and is designed for nurses, physicians, social workers, home visitors, and others working to reduce sleep-related infant deaths.

Led by experienced faculty in collaboration with the University of Kansas School of Medicine–Wichita Center for Research in Infant Birth and Survival (CRIBS), the training provides a comprehensive, evidence-informed curriculum focused on reducing SUID.

Participants will gain the knowledge and skills to educate their communities using a train-the-trainer model, helping to expand safe sleep education at the local level. Registration includes training materials, a Safe Sleep Kit, continuing education credits, and certification as a Safe Sleep Instructor. Please note, this training requires separate registration from the full conference.

Learn more and register to take part in this important opportunity to strengthen prevention efforts in your community.

Expanding the Professional Training Series: Introducing the Nursing Module

The Cribs for Kids Professional Training Series continues to grow, now with the addition of a new Nursing Module.

Nurses play a critical role in safe sleep education. They are often the first to guide families, answer questions, and model safe sleep practices during some of the most important moments in care. This new module was developed to support that role with practical, evidence based guidance that can be applied in real time.

Designed for nurses across settings, the training focuses on recognizing risk, reinforcing safe sleep recommendations, and communicating clearly and confidently with families. It builds on the foundation of the Safe Sleep Ambassador Program while offering more role specific, real world application. As with all modules in the Professional Training Series, participants will complete a post test and earn a certificate and Safe Sleep Professional badge.

When safe sleep messaging is consistent across disciplines, prevention is stronger. The addition of the Nursing Module strengthens our collective ability to reach families with clear, trusted guidance from the start.

New Safe Sleep Resources for Families and Caregivers

Cribs for Kids continues to expand its library of educational materials to support families and caregivers with clear, practical safe sleep guidance.

Two new brochures are now available to help partners strengthen conversations and meet families where they are.

The Grandparent Brochure was created to bridge generational gaps in safe sleep knowledge. It offers simple, easy to follow guidance on today’s recommendations, including placing babies on their backs, keeping the sleep space clear, and avoiding outdated practices like the use of bumper pads. It also features the 12 Steps for 12 Months of Safe Sleep and links to the Safe Sleep Academy for continued learning.

The Protecting Your Baby During Sleep Brochure focuses on the impact of impairment on safe sleep. It helps caregivers understand how exhaustion, medications, alcohol, and other substances can affect judgment and increase risk. The resource also provides practical strategies for creating a safe sleep plan in real life situations and pairs with our four part video series available in the Safe Sleep Academy video library.

Both resources are available for download and co-branding in the Partner Resource Portal in English and Spanish. Printed copies are currently available in English through the Partner Store, with Spanish versions coming soon.

These tools are designed to support honest, informed conversations and help ensure every caregiver has access to up to date, life saving safe sleep guidance.

Safe Sleep in Action

Community Baby Shower Donation

Cribs for Kids was proud to support a recent community baby shower hosted by the Church of God and Saints of Christ Joshua Generation.

Through this event, families received resources and education to help create safer sleep environments at home.

One lucky mother also received a Cribette, helping ensure her baby has a safe place to sleep from day one.

We are grateful for community partners who continue to bring families together and support safe sleep in meaningful ways.

Babies & Bumps, Chicago and Beyond

Cribs for Kids and ette cetera were in Chicago for a recent Babies & Bumps event, where Spencer Gentille, Program & Products Coordinator, and Bridget Gaussa, Chief Operating Officer, connected with families and shared safe sleep education.

These events offer valuable opportunities to meet parents where they are, answer questions, and reinforce simple steps that help keep babies safe from the very start.

We’re looking forward to continuing the conversation at upcoming Babies & Bumps events in Boston on July 26, Kansas City on August 9, Austin on September 27, and Houston on November 1.
