DL DOWN3R

Another year has gone by! All of us at Blue Pie would like to go on a retrospective journey with you and check out some of the milestones that Mr Suga Boom Boom has accomplished all throughout 2021, and where his best tracks have traveled!

DL Down3r (born James Williams) is a Californian west coast rapper who started his legacy with a boom: he recorded his global viral hit "Suga Boom Boom", and rapidly became the social star known as "Mr Suga Boom Boom". The song is so well-loved that it has well over 350M plays on YouTube, and over 35M streams on Spotify!

Suga Boom Boom has definitely defied gravity this year, with amazing remixes. The stand-out re-imagining of the classic track came from Jack Parry this time, which added another element, one which isn’t typically seen in remixes and covers of this track: it remains relaxing. The remix has over 50k on Spotify so far!

"MERRY CHRISTMAS"

To celebrate the end of 2021, Blue Pie Records are proud to present "MERRY CHRISTMAS", the Xmas album from DL DOWN3R with parody lyrics and his trademark smoky voice! In particular, the first track on the album, the irreverent “12 Days of Christmas in Oildale” is a hilarious parody that isn’t one for the kids – completely off the walls and bleak, this may be entirely relatable to certain listeners out there, especially if you’re up Oildale Cali way. If so, lock your windows, or the naked man from every verse will surely climb right in. This is the funniest song from Down3r since Clown!

"CLOWN"

In the above segment, we mentioned Clown - which, to our delight, was the first Down3r animated music video ever! 2021 has some good notches on its belt, for sure! Clown is a track that combines the anger of a diss track with the emotions of an introspective song. It’s a pissed off track, but a sad kind of anger. The kind of disappointment you feel when someone close to you has let you down, or changed for the worse – that’s this song incarnate, and you can feel that in both the melody and the lyrics. Providing hope where there is often despair, DL Down3r opened up every pore of his living being, giving the world a collection of war-songs that tell a story as real as it can be told - and this one is a fine addition to the collection.

"LONG ROAD AHEAD"

In 2021, DL Down3r hit us with “LONG ROAD AHEAD”, ft. Uno Tha Prodigy! An emotional piece, this is a song from 2 individuals who know a lot more struggles than most. Down3r isn’t afraid to show you the 44 years of pain and beyond that he’s lived through. His man Uno is also ready to demonstrate the road he’s walked, and everything he’s overcome. With a cutting music video as sharp as the lyrics, this is one musical journey you won't forget. We haven't seen a music video as emotional as this since Wear Me Down or Hear Me Now!

Ft. Cordell Drake & Stone P

"DO THAT"

Featuring Cordell Drake and Stone P, this new track is a classic G Funk deal. We love it whenever Down3r experiments with this style, his flow and voice really suit it! And of course his crew and their hard hitting musical attitude are a huge part of this track’s lifeblood - and the sexy music vid certainly helps too. You might remember another collaboration like this that DL did in the past that turned a few heads, his featuring on “Alright” by Solja Sick. Or perhaps a collab with DL at the helm, along with Bigg Cixx, that being the iconic “No L’s”! No matter which you remember, it’s undeniable that this funky sound is exactly what the world needs more of.
