Line Dancing Class at the Stone Church
A lively line dancing class was held at the Stone Church in Raynham this past Saturday night! Instructor Lestyn Gilmore took the evening to teach everyone some new moves in line dancing. Everyone had a blast learning new steps and dancing together to music. In addition, all the money raised from this event was donated by Lestyn to Stone Church's Women's Fellowship group for their future activities.

Historical Tidbit:
Native Settlements of Raynham, 1500-1620
There is not a lot of archaeological and historical sources exist from this time period. Many of the information of native settlements and routes are conjectures based on what is available.
Possible settlement sites:
A small unidentified village was located north of the junction of South Main Street and Forge River. There were also probably native settlements along the Taunton River, especially in river's junction with Pine Street. Locally, the natives in this area were most likely to be affiliated with the Titicut settlement from Bridgewater and Middleborough. Regionally. they were probably part of the Pokanoket Tribe.
Possible native trails:
A native route might have existed along the route of Thrasher Street. This trail would have led to the former site of Fowling Pond. Some other trails might have extended along King Philip, North Main, and Elm Streets. These routes would have led to Lake Nippenicket.
Food Sources:
The native populations could have fished from the Taunton River, its tributaries, and Fowling Pond. Northern Raynham at the time was a marsh and swamp land that could have provided game for native hunters. The land along the Taunton River was also fertile land for growing crops.

Climate Can Do:
The Buy Nothing Project
The BN project exists to trade goods freely without purchasing them. Less of our earth's resources are used if we share what we already have. Less items like furniture, clothes, housewares and sporting goods end up in landfills. Over 6 million people around the world are in the Buy Nothing movement! Download the free app and within minutes, you can Give, Ask, and share your Gratitude with your neighbors. It's instant and easy.
What goods can you give on Buy Nothing?: Anything someone else may want. Maybe you have a perfectly good chair to get rid of? You can list it on the BN app, and someone will take it. Do you see something you like, get in touch with the person who posted it, and it can be yours.
What is a Buy Nothing Community?: A BN community is the people around you. There are BN Communities in Bridgewater, Brockton, East / West Bridgewater combined one, as are Halifax & Hanson. Find the community that's right for you.
Donate to the Project: Loving the money you are saving? Contribute here. Helping removes trash from the environment. The longer an item can remain out of a landfill, the better. The BN Project is run by donations by the community and sponsors. Buy Nothing Project is fiscally sponsored by Angels for Angels, a 501(c)(3), Donations are tax-deductible.
Getting involved: If you want to join, you can download the app on your phone or computer from the app store. Anything else you'd like to know? buynothingproject.org

Connecting Cousins.
"Cousins are those rare people who ask how we are and then wait to hear the answer."
~ Ed Cunningham
"No matter how you feel about your extended family or family gatherings you will be attending. This is because now the ultimate reason for attending family gatherings is for your children to have the time of their lives with their cousins. Little kids love their cousins. I’m not being cute or exaggerating here. Cousins are like celebrities for little kids. If little kids had a People magazine, cousins would be on the cover. Cousins are the barometers of how fun a family get-together will be. Are the cousins going to be there? Fun! "
~ Jim Gaffigan
"My cousins are shareholders of my soul. "
~ Saswat Padh

Dear Reader, some families are given; some you chose or they choose you. Whoever your family may be, I hope people in your life comfort and support you.
Being part of a large family network has brought me great comfort. When I was young they were all fun and amazing. Always with a smile and a hug and something cool to show me. And now they are a source of wisdom and connection. We have pushed so hard for personal independence in American society, sometimes we forget it's okay to lean on our roots.
Enjoy your week folks. ~ Jacquie
Dedicating this column to my cousin Barbara, whose life force blesses all around her.
