SACRAMENTO REGION ACHIEVES OZONE AIR QUALITY MILESTONE |
Last week, the City of Folsom joined the Sac Metro Air District, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and regional leaders to celebrate a major milestone in meeting the 2008 federal ozone standard by the 2024 deadline. The achievement marks years of regional collaboration to improve air quality and protect public health.
The EPA’s determination confirms that air quality data from 2022 through 2024 show reduced ground-level ozone across the Sacramento region. This success not only benefits the health of residents, but also helps local businesses avoid added regulations and keeps the region eligible for federal transportation and infrastructure funding.
The event featured remarks from EPA Regional Administrator Josh F.W. Cook, Congresswoman Doris Matsui, and Folsom Mayor Sarah Aquino, who chairs the Sac Metro Air District Board. The milestone underscores the power of partnership and shared vision in creating a cleaner, healthier future for Sacramento-area communities.
| | LANE CONFIGURATION CHANGE COMING TO OAK AVENUE AT EAST BIDWELL STREET |
The City of Folsom will modify southbound Oak Avenue at East Bidwell Street to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion. The project will convert one through lane into an additional left turn lane, similar to the improvement completed at Iron Point Road and East Bidwell Street.
Work is scheduled during the week of September 8 and will take place over one to two nights. All work will occur at night to minimize disruptions, and lane closures will be limited to the southbound direction.
Message boards will be placed in the area to inform drivers about the upcoming change. While traffic impacts are expected to be minimal, motorists are encouraged to stay alert to the new lane configuration once work is complete.

| HELP NAME FOLSOM’S NEWEST PARK |
The Folsom Parks & Recreation Department is inviting the community to help name Neighborhood Park #1, a brand-new park coming to 3294 Empire Ranch Road in the Folsom Plan Area.
This is an opportunity for residents to make a lasting impact and help shape the future of Folsom’s parks. The chosen name should reflect the spirit of the community—whether it honors the natural surroundings, highlights unique features, celebrates local wildlife, or showcases Folsom’s rich history and culture.
The deadline for submissions is September 12. Ideas may be submitted through the online form. For more information, email parkplanning@folsom.ca.us.
