November 2026
A Gateway to Christ

From our CLD
During this time of Thanksgiving, we need to consider all the things in our life that we are thankful for. My Pastor has us making an ongoing list of our things that we are thankful for, one thing for every year we have been alive. My list has a special entry for 2012, that’s the year I made my walk to Emmaus.
I did not want to go! I put it off for a walk or two, but I finally gave in and went. The worship service was great, and the music was fantastic. The weekend lay leader called names, we lined up on each side of him and I bet my eyes were as large as softballs, I could feel my heart beating in my ears, this lad was nervous. The community was dismissed and the next thing I knew I was walked out between two rows of people singing about a rooster, a hen and baby chicks and a lady named Delores. I was forever changed. Thursday night was hard, nothing but silence. Friday was a little easier, we could talk, we spent the day listening to speakers and working on posters. Saturday was tough, self-reflection. After dark we were led out to a huge group of people, all of them holding candles and singing. They surrounded us and sang “Have You Seen Jesus My Lord”….At that point I was firmly in my Saviors grip, he owned my heart then and still does. It’s time for us as a community to start getting the applications for walk 89 filled out and get them sent to Tracy Crissman with the binder fee or the full payment, also if you don’t have a pilgrim but want to contribute to the weekend you can purchase meals or come out and help serve meals. I know there is someone out there just like me, they’ve been asked before and something happened, or maybe someone who has an empty spot in their heart that needs filling, He can fill that empty spot. Remember your walk and the change and joy that came from it, deliver that blessing to someone you know.

From our Kitchen Coordinator
De Colores!
It was great to see so many of the community at the gathering on the 17th. The park was hopping with activity while we worshipped the Lord in some beautiful surroundings.
The temperatures were perfect, allowing us to truly enjoy some good fellowship and listen to a wonderful fourth day talk. As the speaker (Dorothy Gall) reminded us that gatherings along with grouping help us to continue to grow closer in our relationship with the Lord. I pray you are all grouping and I hope to see you at the November gathering.
Now that the next walks have been set, we all need to start praying for the walks as well as praying about what we can do to be a part of the walks. When we look at the calendar, April is 5 months away. When we begin the planning, April is only 5 months away. The time to start is now. Mark your calendars. Pray about being at send off, serving meals, praying in the chapel during the walks, being at candlelight, and don’t forget being at the closing to welcome the pilgrims into the community. Sign a couple of slots in the prayer vigil. If you are asked to be on the team, prayerfully consider. There are many things each of us can do to share God’s love before, during, and after the walks.
As the kitchen coordinator, I will be asking for volunteers. Both weekends have cooks all set but extra help is always appreciated in the kitchen and dining room. I look forward to hearing from you.

Suggestions for Sponsoring:
Part one:
There are a few guidelines and suggestions for recruiting a potential pilgrim that should increase your effectiveness, help you properly interpret Emmaus and aid in your responsibility in sharing God's grace as a sponsor.
*Remember, the Walk to Emmaus is not for everyone. These 3 days cannot rectify every problem marriage, enthuse every disenchanted church member, cure disturbed persons, or make saints of sinners. The Walk to Emmaus is designed to change environments through Christian leaders. Pilgrims should at lest know where the path is if they are not already walking on it. We don'e need just candidates; we need the best.
*Feel free to share what Emmaus meant for you as fully as will help. It's not that we are not allowed to tell what goes on , but some things are difficult to explain without ruining what may be a hopeful surprise. We want their experience to be fresh, especially for Candlelight, and agape.
You are welcome to share how it has brought you closer to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and you are continually being transformed every day.
I hope this helps.... to be continued.
Blessings and Happy Sponsoring.
