Message from the Executive Director
|
Hello OESP! Last year around this time, we published our first article about COVID, announcing the postponement of the March 2020 Board meeting and the postponement and eventual cancellation of the 2020 Eastern Energy Expo.
At the time, who knew how well versed we would all become in Zoom and virtual technology? I am proud of OESP for coming out on top during the madness of the last 13 months. Our chapters have stayed active and connected, and our membership has stayed strong.
We now look toward coming together (finally) next month on the national level, as we hold our May Board of Director’s meeting in person for the first time since September 2019. We will be gathering at the Embassy Suites in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey May 14-16. Please watch your email for details on registration. It will be imperative that everyone registers as we are required to present a full roster of attendees to the hotel.
The Eastern Energy Expo will be held virtually once again this year but with a new, more sophisticated feel. We’ll be using an interactive, easy-to-use event platform that will allow you to view all your classes in one place and will provide a forum for meeting with marketplace vendors to check out all they have to offer. Registration will reopen soon, and will once again it will be free for all to attend. The education schedule can be viewed online HERE.
Our scholarship committee is hard at work choosing the recipients of the Dave Nelsen Scholarship. We are planning to announce the winners at the May BOD meeting. Thank you to our generous scholarship sponsors this year: RW Beckett, SCPEA, Carlin/Hydrolevel, the New Haven Chapter and the Fairfield County Chapter.
By now, you have seen plenty from our great and generous advertisers. Taco, R.W. Beckett, Suntec Industries, Carlin/Hyrdolevel, General Filters, Wohler, Sid Harvey, Roth and Weil-McLain. And I am proud to welcome Energy Kinetics as a new Corporate Partner for 2021. Their logos are displayed prominently at the top of this issue. Call us so your logo can be there too!
Our Oil Heat Cares program has been on the move in every region of OESP with installations being done consistently. Thank you to the team led by OHC Chair Dave Bessette for enabling well-deserving people to be warm and safe over the past winter, a difficult time for so many. Thank you to the service companies who have generously donated their time. We are tremendously proud of Oil Heat Cares.
On behalf of Jonathan Jaffe, Meredith Levy and the rest of the OESP management team, it continues to be a pleasure to serve such a proactive organization. We really, truly can’t wait to see you next month in beautiful, bucolic, blooming New Jersey.
