The Third Sunday of Advent is also known as Gaudete Sunday. The word “Gaudete” is Latin for “Rejoice.” On Gaudete Sunday, the season of Advent shifts its focus. For the first two weeks of Advent, the focus can be summed up in the phrase, “The Lord is coming.” But beginning with Gaudete Sunday, the summary might be, “The Lord is near.” This shift is marked by a lighter mood and a heightened sense of joyous anticipation. On this day, we light the third candle of the Advent wreath, which is rose-colored.

Remember your 2024 pledge
Please give by December 31
It's almost time to welcome in the new year, but before we leave 2024, please check to see if you have paid the full amount of your pledge for this year.
If you have not, you have until December 31 to give for it to be counted as a deduction on your 2024 taxes. You can also give the amount in early 2025 (please identify it is for your 2024 pledge) and you can then deduct it on your 2025 taxes, if that strategy benefits you with regard to your tax liability.
Also remember, if you have given any "in-kind" support to Resurrection during 2024 and would like the amount to be included on your giving statement, please complete a Request for Addition to Contribution Record, attach supporting documentation and receipts, and give to the Treasurer.
Thank you for all your support of Resurrection and our ministries this past year Without you our parish literally could not operate. Wishing you many blessings for 2025.
