In the coming weeks, the State Chamber will release a document we commissioned from from Economic Leadership, a consulting group out of North Carolina. We asked them to explore who we are as our nation and state experience a "significant transformation—arguably the most profound since the 1960s."
The report is full of important data points, including who is moving here and from where, birthrates and their implications for education providers and employers, housing inventory and associated costs, and more. I must admit, however, one data point I never saw coming was this: "According to the American Community Survey, Delaware’s foreign-born population has grown from 72,531 in 2010 to 104,694 in 2023—an increase of 44%." Said differently, about one out of every 10 Delawareans was born somewhere other than the United States, and one in seven Delaware workers were immigrants.
The report will serve as a guide for our future research and policy priorities. Stay tuned to our emails and social media in the coming weeks for the full release of the report. We hope you will take the time to review it carefully and join us as we work collaboratively to solve some of the biggest challenges facing employers and their employees.
