Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Elder Housing | Cloquet, Minnesota
A project years in the making, brought to life
From the first groundbreaking to the ribbon cutting, the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Elder Housing project represents more than the completion of a new building, it marks the creation of 18 new homes designed to support independence, comfort, and community for Fond du Lac elders.
The Vision | Rendering
The project began with a vision for thoughtfully designed, single-story housing that would provide residents with comfortable, accessible homes while creating a strong connection to the surrounding community.
Breaking Ground | Groundbreaking Ceremony
The groundbreaking marked an exciting milestone as that vision moved from the drawing board to the site. Community leaders, project partners, and members of the Fond du Lac Band community gathered to celebrate the beginning of construction.
Taking Shape | Construction Progess
Over the course of construction, the project steadily transformed from foundation and framing into a finished residential community. Durable materials, carefully considered site improvements, and infrastructure designed for northern Minnesota's climate were integrated throughout the project.
A New Chapter | Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
In July 2026, the project reached its final milestone with a ribbon cutting celebrating the completion of the new 15,746-square-foot community. The 18 one-bedroom homes provide a place for residents to live independently while remaining connected to their community.
Built for Community.
Designed for Living
Fond du Lac Band Elder Housing is ultimately about more than square footage and building materials. It is about creating welcoming places to call home and investing in the people and community those places serve.
