Development News

Kala's end of the year fundraising is just around the corner! We officially kick off Kala's holiday giving campaign on Giving Tuesday, Dec 3rd to raise vital funds to support Kala's mission and work. We of course welcome contributions any time throughout the year.

If you're over 70 and have an IRA, you're likely familiar with its benefits as well as the tax obligations that come with withdrawing funds. If you turn 73 this year, you'll be required to take required minimum distributions (RMDs). By making a charitable gift from your IRA, you can support our work while receiving tax benefits. We encourage you to talk with your financial advisor.

Thank you all for your generous support of Kala!

Current Exhibition: Roadwork

& Holiday Gallery Schedule

On view at the Kala Gallery! Roadwork featuring new works by Cheryl Derricotte & Marcel Pardo Ariza, 2023-2024 Print Public, municipal artist-in-residence fellows.

Roadwork is the culmination of a 20-month concurrent artist residency at Kala and the City of Berkeley’s planning department where Cheryl worked with Katie Van Dyke and Climate Equity Projects and Marcel worked with Robert Rivera and the San Pablo Avenue specific plan.

In their words: “We are on the road to climate justice. We are on the road to newly defined streetscapes that better support residents and businesses. We are on the road to a society that equitably values the leadership of artists and arts institutions. There is Roadwork ahead.”

Gallery is open Tue-Fri, 12-5pm. We will also be open on Saturdays 12-4pm starting in January 2025. Stay tuned for more info.

Gallery Holiday Closures: Kala Gallery will be closed for holidays from Nov 27 - Dec 2 and Dec 20, 2024 - Jan 6, 2025.
