The ReMarks

June 10, 2026

He has told you, O mortal, what is good,

and what does the Lord require of you

but to do justice and to love kindness

and to walk humbly with your God?

Any body else still humming the Cheers theme song?

Good morning, and welcome to another edition of the ReMarks! We're so thankful for the time you spend reading this newsletter every Wednesday morning, which is why we're always trying to bring you the most relevant and up to date information. But if reading the news isn't your thing, check out our new Weekly Announcements video series on Facebook and Instagram.

Here's what we have for you this week!

Pride Auction

Get ready to bid and make a difference! Every bid at this auction will support Saint Mark's mission of radical welcome, inclusion, and love - as well the various ministries and outreach programs we offer.

New items will continue to be added through June 15, so check back often, bid generously, and invite your friends and family to join the fun. Together, we can turn every bid into real ministry.

Updated Clothing Closet Needs

The Pride Auction isn't the only thing getting new items. With the thick of summer quickly approaching, the needs of the clothing closet have changed. Here's what items the people who rely on the Saint Mark outreach closet will benefit most from right now:

  • underwear: boxers not "tightie whities"
  • casual pants: sizes 33-40 waist
  • shorts: sizes 32-50 waist
  • white ankle socks
  • shoes: sizes 9-13
  • body wipes

Thank you for your continued support in keeping this community resource stocked!

Make Your Mark Day

big thanks!

Speaking of continued support, thank you to everyone who volunteered their time last Saturday. It was a big success! Stay tuned for the before and after photos of the change that you helped create.

Honoring Juneteenth

Juneteenth Freedom Day

Clergy is working to create a culturally rich and spiritually moving worship service this Sunday. That looks like having a Call to Worship and Prayer of Confession & Pardon focused around Juneteenth, and featuring Black and African American hymns as well as a ministry moment from Sheila Stephens. You won't want to miss it!

One Georgia Unification Vote

You might not want to miss this either. At this year's North Georgia UMC Annual Conference, June 18-20, the conference will vote to decide whether to unify the North and South Georgia conferences into the One Georgia conference. As Saint Mark's lay delegates to the conference, Noey Barrera-Disler and Katie Long will vote on behalf of the congregation.

If you would like more information about this vote, there is an online information session on June 10 at 6:30 pm. You can register here: https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/fV4MdfrjRqWF9ZU08NU7xw#/registration

If you have any questions or feedback after the information session, contact Noey or Katie.

As we begin planning this milestone celebration, we need you! If you have old photos, memories, stories, creative ideas, or a passion for Saint Mark’s history, please contact Eric Steverson.

More details to come, but for now… mark your calendar and get excited. You won’t want to miss this celebration 150 years in the making!

Father's Day service

We'll be doing something sweet (we're using that word intentionally here) for all the men in the congregation on June 21st. Maybe we'll tell you, or maybe we'll let it be a surprise...
