The Message this Week

Preaching Text: Genesis 12:1-9

Building altars to God! We usually focus on Abram boldly following God into an unknown space. Something else got my attention as I read through Abram's call story. When he got there, he built an altar and called on God again. How often do we pray for guidance on the journey but forget to pause when we arrive?

Holy and mighty God, help us to remember to call on You every step of the way. In Jesus' name, Amen.

WONDERING...

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.

• Inspire us to trust in your goodness that we would drop everything to follow in your way.
• Help us to be good stewards of all that you have created.
• Call all those in authority to act on behalf of those they serve with compassion and justice.
• Guide the work of all who provide care to those suffering in any way.
• Help us to recognize your divine call in whatever work we do. Guide all who are discerning changes in employment or dealing with financial challenges.
• Like saints gone before us, lead us in the path of trust and hope one day at a time.

God who created all that is, we place all for whom we pray, both aloud and in the silence of our hearts, into your loving arms. Amen.
