Today is International Day of the Girl, a day when the world focuses on empowering young women and ensuring they live safe, educated, and healthy lives. This week our school community came together for our Justice and Peace Liturgy, with the theme of "Know Justice, Know Peace." May we open our hearts and minds to the injustices around us, listen to voices different from our own, and discover how each of us can be part of creating a more just and peaceful community and world. 🕊️

Dear Carondelet Community,
This Wednesday, October 14, our students will step away from their regular class schedules for our All-School Program Day. While each grade level will have a different experience, all four programs reflect our commitment to preparing students not just for college, but for lives of purpose, service, and possibility.
Our freshmen will head into the community for their Frosh Day of Service, putting faith into action and beginning to understand what it means to live our mission through service to others.
Our sophomores will participate in our second annual Career Fair, hearing exclusively from Carondelet alumnae who have gone on to build careers across a wide range of professions. These women return not only to share their professional journeys, but also to serve as role models for what a Carondelet graduate can become. Through their stories, students will explore potential career paths, discover how interests and values shape professional choices, and begin imagining what it means to lead a life of purpose.
Our juniors will take the PSAT, an important milestone in their college preparation. Beyond providing practice for future standardized testing, the PSAT offers valuable feedback on academic strengths and areas for growth, and serves as the qualifying exam for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Finally, our seniors will participate in dedicated College Counseling workshops, a distinctive part of the Carondelet experience. With personalized guidance and protected time to work on applications, essays, and next steps, students can navigate this important process with confidence and support.
These experiences look different across grade levels, but together they reflect something central to a Carondelet education: learning extends well beyond the classroom, and preparing students for what comes next means helping them discover who they are and who they want to become.
Elizabeth Chaponot, Ph.D.
Principal of Academics

Quarter 1 Report Cards
Quarter 1 report cards will be shared with students and families this week. These grades are officially recorded in PowerSchool and provide an important checkpoint on student progress. However, there is still plenty of time for growth before semester grades are finalized in December. Only semester grades appear on student transcripts, so this is a great opportunity to reflect on what's going well and where adjustments or additional support may be needed.

The St. Marty’s Party Collection Drive has Begun!
Every year, we host children from the Monument Crisis Center, Community Youth Center, and Contra Costa Foster Friends for a Halloween Extravaganza. This is one of Carondelet’s longest traditions in which we directly serve and celebrate our community partnerships. We rely on donations and volunteers to help make this event happen. See photos from last year on SmugMug.
Each 5th period is encouraged to bring in donations like bags of nut-free candy, stuffed animals with the tags, children’s books (ages 5–13), as well as monetary donations. We also have a Target Wishlist, and those donations will be sent directly to the school! Please note: in the gift message portion, please write your student’s name, as well as their 5th Period Teacher.

Carondelet Faculty and Staff MAKE A STATEMENT!
This past week marked the end of our annual Faculty/Staff Fundraising Appeal, when all employees are invited to make a personal gift of support to an area of campus meaningful to them. For context, the national average philanthropic participation rate for secondary educational institutions is ~30%. The dedicated, mission-focused adults who serve at our school every day reached 99% participation within two weeks.
This collective endorsement of Carondelet’s priorities and vision is a testament to the dedication and passion with which our employees approach their jobs. Their commitment to our students is evident every day, and we are deeply grateful for their strong vote of confidence.
Here’s to the best in the business!

Sister Circles: Building a Legacy of Sisterhood
Sister Circles is a Carondelet tradition that encourages each graduating class to build a lasting legacy by supporting the Alumnae Tuition Assistance Fund. Beginning in freshman year, families have the opportunity to make gifts in honor of their daughter's class, culminating in a Senior Class Gift at graduation. These gifts help make a Carondelet education accessible to future students while teaching our daughters the importance of generosity, community, and giving back. Each class is permanently recognized in Carondelet's Inner Court, celebrating the impact they made together as a Sisterhood.
Support Your Class Sister Circle Today
This year, the Brinkley family has committed a $10,000 matching gift to help the Class of 2027 reach their goal of $25,000 and 50% class participation by Thursday, April 1. Every gift made brings us one step closer to unlocking the full match and maximizing our impact for future Carondelet students.
