"Here's to strong women: may we know them, may we be them, may we raise them"

Dear Bedford,
March came in like a lion as we are gripped by events that make us grateful for our safety and security and praying for those who are suffering in Ukraine.
We have ended the mask mandate in municipal buildings (except during Court) and its good to see smiling faces again, but please remember COVID-19 is still among us and continue to be mindful of exposing others.
County Legislator Erika Pierce came to speak to the Town Board on Tuesday to share insights about measures to manage rising electric costs and to promote an upcoming event about 911 Diversion and Westchester County’s new Project Alliance featuring (among others) our own KBHVAC’s Captain Allie Whalen.
EXTENDED DEADLINE! We need more respones to the wireless coverage survey! It only takes a few minutes and will help immensely with our planning for wireless facilities. Click here and click here for the Spanish version.

Goats + Invasive Species Land Maaa-nagement
|
|
At the March 1st Town Board meeting, the Town Board voted to explore an alternative to traditional chemical herbicides and fertilizers
to remove invasive plant species on forested land and meadows.
Enter: Goats! These hungry, adorable and natural workers have the ability to clear land of invasive species, while also fertilizing, mulching, and aerating the soil.
|
|
The Town Board has asked the Planning Board to review the potential code change regarding targeted vegetation management using goats and sheep and to provide its recommendation before the Town Board may consider adopting the amendments.

GOT PERMITS?
Did you know that replacing a fence, building a pool, taking down trees, building a shed.....requires a permit? Check out our Fee Schedule.

91% of plastics are not recycled? There will be 12 billion metric tons of plastic in landfills by 2050... 35,000 times as heavy as the Empire State Building!

Register at bit.ly/BedfordPlastic for Bedford 2030's virtual film screening of The Story of Plastic, then join a discussion with an expert panel on March 8, 7-8PM.
Registration for this two-part event will provide a link to view the film at your leisure, then to join a Zoom discussion with our speakers. Discussion will ask who’s responsible for solving the plastic pollution crisis, as well as how to shift towards a zero-waste system. An audience Q&A will follow the panelist discussion, and participants will be encouraged to reduce plastic use in their own home.

Safe Drug Disposal at Bedford Police Department
|
|
The Bedford Police Department has a permanent collection site for old and medication so you may safely dispose of the materials in a medication drop off box.
To access the box, visit the Town of Bedford Police Dept. at 307 Bedford Road, Bedford Hills, NY 10507 and
hit the door buzzer to the PD Lobby.
Please note that the site does not accept:
- "sharps" (needles)
- thermometers
- liquids (including hydrogen peroxide)
- inhalers (or other aerosols)
- lotions
Used sharps can be dropped off at any hospital or nursing home in New York State. Be sure to contact the location to confirm specific drop-off days and times.
|
|
Throwing away unused medication in the garbage or leaving them to collect dust in medicine cabinets risks the medicines falling into the wrong hands, and flushing old medication down the toilet poses a threat to the water supply.

FROM OUR TAX RECEIVER
Due to online maintenance, the town's on-line tax payment system
will off line this Sunday (3/6) from 8am-2pm.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
