An urgent alert from the US Section of the
Women's International League for Peace and Freedom
Can you help support WILPF with part of your COVID relief check?

Some of my friends and I have acknowledged how lucky and privileged we are; we don’t really need the upcoming $1400 COVID relief check. Each of us is planning to give some, if not all, of the money away. Are you able to support WILPF with part of your COVID relief check?

Even some of my retired friends have commented that they can get by without these funds. Of course, that’s not true for all WILPF members, but it is for me. I can live on my retirement. I plan to use some of that “free money” to support my community, including local families in need. I also want to use a portion to support WILPF US. WILPF’s work is important to me; it’s an organization close to my passions and my heart.

As a graduate student in my mid 20s at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, I first learned about Jane Addams, Dr. Alice Hamilton, Mary Heaton Vorse, and the many brave women from around the world who traveled to the Hague to try and stop WWI. I was moved deeply by WILPF’s long and inspiring history. I can’t imagine more important work than trying to create a world where there is peace, justice, and human rights for everyone, everywhere.

With my WILPF colleagues and friends, I choose to make a difference every day. We’ve been working passionately at this since 1915 – 106 years and counting. Today WILPF US, which is operating in a deficit, needs our support. The light and love of WILPF women and men is needed in the world more than ever before. Our work is just too important to fade; I want WILPF to exist for my granddaughters.

If you are fortunate enough to have a choice, please consider giving to WILPF US. Support the work of committed volunteers to move toward that vision of a world at peace. Let’s keep WILPF and that vision alive for future generations!
