Advance voting in Qualicum Beach’s 2026 General Local Election drew 2,742 electors over two days, showing an increase of approximately 20% compared to 2022. Participation on the first advance voting day saw 1,376 electors cast their ballots, compared to 1,012 in 2022. The second day drew 1,366 electors, compared to 1,265 in 2022.
“The strong participation in advance voting reflects our electors’ commitment to their community and the democratic process,” said Heather Svensen, Chief Election Officer.
To help avoid lineups, electors are encouraged to vote in the late afternoon or evening. Curbside voting is also available to those unable to enter the building due to a physical limitation. Electors can access this service by calling the number posted on the barricades at the curb in front of the Civic Centre.
Following questions received during advance voting, the Town is also clarifying identification requirements. In accordance with the BC Government Voter Guide, “Identification is not required when a jurisdiction uses a list of registered electors (voters list) and your name is on the list.” Because the Town uses the Provincial Voters’ List, only electors whose names are not already on the list are required to provide identification at the New Registration table before voting.
Electors voting by mail are reminded that completed mail ballot packages must be received at Town Hall by 4 pm on Friday, October 16, or at the Civic Centre by 8 pm on Saturday, October 17.
Electors yet to vote are encouraged to cast their ballots on General Voting Day, Saturday, October 17, from 8 am to 8 pm at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre, 747 Jones Street. Voters will elect one Mayor, four Councillors, and two School Trustees.
