Good Morning to all our PBA Operator Members,
This is the time of year we are all sitting, scratching our heads, attempting to figure things we can do to get back on the road. This year seems worse than last year. No one knows what tomorrow will bring, but I am of the mindset that we control our own destiny. If we want people to get back out there, we need to show them that is what they must do! I know it has been hard to maintain enthusiasm but now is the time.
Tuesday, March 22, 2022, is the Pennsylvania Bus Association Group Leader Marketplace. Drum up excitement with your leaders that this will be the first time in 2 years for them to get together, they want to see their group leader friends or rivals, however that works for you. This is the first time ever to offer a location out of the southern part of the state and to come to Williamsport. There are many interesting things to see and do along your journey to this part of the state, and more once you get here. Reach out to the destination areas you think you might be able to sell trips en route to or from.
I know it has been a while since we have had groups on the road, and I have had a few leaders tell me they are done traveling. I am sure you have all heard the same story, but we need to send those invitations out like we never heard that story, get them back in those seats and DO WHAT WE DO BEST! Talk them into taking trips you never thought they would take, get them back in the seats and start talking like COVID never existed. If someone calls and says they cannot come, tell them to find someone to replace themselves in the seats, they cannot let their group down. “Guilt is mighty powerful!” People are ready to go, we just need to remind them of that, and we are still here to take them.
Williamsport is ready to entertain you and your group leaders and if you don’t have group leaders at least send your staff. It is a community people will feel comfortable from the moment they see the "Welcome" at the World of Little League Museum. When the Board of Directors discussed the idea of moving Marketplace away from the southern part of the state, one goal was to offer our members from the western part of the state (who always have such a long journey) an opportunity to participate. Also, to show a different part of the state to our group leaders, presenting them new areas to travel through, to and offer a little variety. This is that first step, we need to have member support and now it is more important than it may have been before.
Our Marketplace Committee consists of myself, Pattie Cowley, Gina Edwards, Alison Sherman and Amanda Thibeau. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any one of us.
In closing, I ask you to be bold, think creatively outside-the-box, show dedication and determination to your groups and to our PA Bus Association. We look forward to seeing you at the gateway to the PA Wilds in March!
