“Let us have faith that right makes might, and in that faith, let us, to the end, dare to do our duty as we understand it.”

-Abraham Lincoln

Prayer for our Country

Almighty God, we humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

SCAPC Members at the PC(USA) General Assembly

The Presbyterian Church (USA) is holding their 227th biennial General Assembly in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and SCAPC is well-represented! Miriam Hollar, SCAPC Parish Associate, is serving as the Chair of the Constitutional Interpretation Committee, and Arden Weiser is serving as a Youth Advisory Delegate while her sister Savannah attends as an observer. Activities have included worship, fellowship, information sessions on a newly-written confession, budgeting and investments, advocacy, mission, survivor support, equity, the Presbyterian Publishing Corporation, social witness, ordination, and more. Learn more at pcusa.org.

Miriam and Vice Moderator Joe Genau of Edgewater Presbyterian Church in Birmimgham, Alabama deliver the Constitutional Interpretation Report

Arden and Savannah meet fellow youth at the Baird Center where the assembly is held.

Please note that the church office will close at 2 p.m. this Thursday, July 2 and remain closed for the day on Friday, July 3 in recognition of the Independence Day holiday.

Mahjong Mondays

Our next Mahjong Monday will be July 6 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Land Building. Know the basic rules of the game? Beginners through experts of all ages are invited to join a table or sign up a group on the SCAPC app or our calendar page. This is a game night, not a tutorial program. There is no fee for the event. Future dates are August 3, September 7, October 5, November 2, and December 7.

Summer Park Sunday

Everyone is invited to meet up at Danneel Playground on Sunday, July 12, for fellowship and fun. We will meet from 4:00-5:30 to sit and chat, play on the playground, or go for a walk around the park. You are invited to BYOB and snacks. Email Katie Brendler at katie@scapc.org with any questions.

Hymn Sing & Sweet Treats

The choir is on vacation so it's time to tune up your vocal chords, bring the whole family, and get ready to sing! Our annual Hymn Sing will be held on Sunday, July 12 at 5 p.m. in Frampton Fellowship Hall. Bring your hymn requests and stick around for some sweet treats!

May Our Giving Have No Ending

Our 2026 Stewardship Campaign calls us all with the following words: "May our giving have no ending as we open wide our hands, not only to give, but to receive what God is doing with us." We have been blessed by financial pledges from 369 families and continue to receive new gifts. You can always make your pledge at scapc.org/pledge. If you like, you can establish automatic recurring payments towards your pledge.

Welcome, New Members!

Please join us in welcoming Sarah Freeman and Reese Rutherford who joined the church on Sunday!

Look Who We Found in Montreat!

Yesterday at the Montreat Conference Center in North Carolina, SCAPC member Harriet Riley and former SCAPC Pastoral Associate Ashley Brown took a pottery class led by SCAPC Young Adults & Families Coordinator Caitlin Wallace-Rowland! Caitlin is teaching a pottery class for the next few weeks along with SCAPC member Christina Carlisle who is running the studio. Harriet is training small group leaders.

Celebrating America's Birthday

During Summer Sunday’s worship last weekend, our kids read a story about Abraham Lincoln and celebrated America’s birthday with fireworks art!

Seeing God All Over the World

Thank you to all who have sent us postcards sharing where you've seen God this summer! Here are some we received this week:

Meg Gammage reports about her visit to the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain: "It was an incredible experience so I would love to share this photo with the congregation of the red graphite columns that represent the Four Gospels."

Send us a postcard or bring one to church to let us know where you've been moved by the spirit! We are sharing them on the bulletin board in Frampton Fellowship Hall.

Member News

We congratulate SCAPC member Betsy Fischer Martin who was just named Director of the Harvard University Institute of Politics! Harvard lauds Martin as "an Emmy-winning journalist who brings to the IOP a distinguished career at the intersection of politics, media, and public service."
