Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10! In celebration, DPS invites our students to recognize their favorite teachers by sharing what they love most about them.
Work with the students in your life to tell us why they love their teachers by completing this short form by Friday, April 19. Please note that submissions may be featured on the DPS website and DPS social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn).

The McAuliffe Sun Devils New Gym is a Slam Dunk!

The McAuliffe Sun Devils are celebrating a new athletics makeover! The basketball teams at McAuliffe have been enjoying a 2020 bond-funded gymnasium upgrade that included six new state-of-the-art basketball hoops, new wall pads and new flooring.

Broncos at McGlone Academy

|
DPS partnered with Wish for Wheels, the Denver Broncos and the Denver Police Department to bring 116 new bikes to second graders at McGlone Academy in the far northeast.
At the heart of the excitement, Daniel Graham, a Thomas Jefferson High School alum and former tight-end for the Denver Broncos, helped students gear up and provided valuable riding tips to our students. Watch the full video here.

Denver Scholarship Foundation Community Workshop
|
|
The Denver Scholarship Foundation is here to help DPS students and families navigate the FAFSA process! DSF offers free financial aid workshops and resources. Last year, DSF supported over 11,000 DPS students and gave scholarships to over 2,070 DPS graduates.
Due to delays and nationwide low FAFSA completion rates, they will be adding more free community workshops and sharing helpful FAFSA and CASFA information on their Instagram and Facebook.
All the financial aid workshops will be held at the Denver Scholarship Foundation (789 Sherman Street, #601, Denver, CO 80203).

Join the Multilingual Education (MLE) District Advisory Committee (DAC) on Wednesday, April 17 from 9-11 a.m., at New Hope Baptist Center. Second Annual DPS Climate Summit on Friday, April 19
|
|
Whether you're a seasoned sustainability champion or new to the game, all are invited to learn and fight for a liveable future at the second annual DPS Climate Summit, hosted by DPS Students for Climate Action! The summit will take place from 4-7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 19 at East High School.
Join students, staff and community members as we empower each other to make a difference by learning how to contribute to climate action, hone leadership skills and find your place in the DPS Climate Action Plan. Register using the English form or Spanish form. If you are interested in volunteering, sponsoring or hosting a booth, email dept_sustainability@dpsk12.net.

DSA Speech and Debate Wins 5A State Championship
|
|
In the second year of its program, Denver School of the Art's speech and debate team won the state championship for Public Forum debate at this year's 5A State Championship Tournament! First-year competitors, Reina Kushihashi and Hayden Ferrandino, won the tournament, which was only their third tournament competing together. They are coached by Joseph Karwin, Heather Ottele and Daniel Goldberg.
The team operates completely outside of school hours and competes against some of the best programs in the country, including Cherry Creek High School and George Washington High School.
We are extremely proud of all our kids' accomplishments this season!
