WEEK IN REVIEW

COVER PHOTO:

Angus has graduated! Kinda. He and his owner have completed four private lessons. He was sooooo fresh at our last lesson. Not exactly evil, but super fresh. Jumping, mouthing, vocalizing to intimidate, not only on his owner but at me too. Usually by our fourth meeting the dogs respect me as the big dog. I thought maybe his owner is being soft, but he reacted appropriately at each assault. We put him on a pinch collar to finish the lesson. It seemed to help a little. We are next moving to the e-collar to see if that will be the key to making him into the good dog that is under all that naughtiness.

At the end of the lesson I let Stubby knock him around to put him in his place. It worked for a while but then Angus started to come back an mount Stubby. It is the first time Stubby was not the clear winner. I would say it was a split decision with Stubby winning on points, but not the knockout I was hopping for.

We had a small but necessary turn out for the Saturday Obedience walk. Leo has regressed and Remy has gotten fresher! The reinforcement of the Dogman techniques was great for both owners. Leo was wild until I took the leash and reminded him that I would decide who was good or bad. A little tension on the leash is the start of barrier frustration. Remy has always had trouble with the heel. I tuned him up and turned him back over to his people and he was better. The pups bot lots of love and treats!

Saturday the 10th there will be no walk or class as I will be in New Hampshire for the Columbus Day Weekend.

We had week three in my Saturday Basic Obedience class. I was informed by Derbyfield there are people interested in one more class after this one! (See details further down in the Newsletter)

Group class three involves the down stay my favorite lesson! Teh dogs are improving! Miley could not play, and she is a play instigator, but the others dogs did great!

The Falmouth Enterprise was in the front yard, so I had him do his old job of fetching the newspaper! Click on the link below to see the video.

SGT. Stubby cut in line at Hot Diggity. I was told he was setting a bad example for the other pups. Well his antics make everyone laugh and no one seems to mind!

DOGMAN DATA:

Spar, a two year old Boston Terrier, is featured wearing her dress blues, complete with Yeoman first class rating, campaign ribbons. One of her ribbons is for bailing out of an airplane! She was born to sail the sea. She shipped out as a pup and served the Coast Guard Cutter USCG Spencer. She was aboard when it sank a German U-Boat off the East Coast. She parachuted in the arms of her master CG Coxswain Harold L. Mottard, out of a crippled airplane off the coast of Newfoundland. In addition to action at sea Spar was very popular and enjoyed going ashore and sampling waterfront beverage emporiums!

I have been pretty good about getting my walks in and lowering my sugar intake. I only could walk for 20 minutes the other day. The next day Stubby and I walked with speed and purpose. We got to do a full walk. (usually an hour and sometimes more) It was amazing the energy level. Stubby was running a lot! It was cooler out and that helps motivate the legs.

My weight numbers that I bounce between are slowly getting lower. I am trying to get to the gym as well. One of the new fitness instructions is that exercise is good...if you do not sit for long periods before or after, and that is exactly what I do! I work on Military Museum research and lectures sitting at my computer. I have to do Facebook posts for Dogman and CCMM (sit at computer) I also sit to work on the models for the Museum.

I need to set an hourly alarm so I get up and go up and down the stairs and see if that helps!

The 1/18th scale 3-D printed DUKW amphibious truck model needs a ton of work before it is museum worthy. Thank Gosh master modeler Charlie Rowley is helping out. He made the wheels turn and rotate and is now working on the cab. I am helping out by building detail parts. I made a couple of hatches. (Charlie is going to make them open and close!) I built an anchor and a bilge pump. I made it so the handle goes up and down on the bilge pumps so as not to disappoint Mr. Rowley!
