Sharla Celebrates Quarter Century At Sincuidados
Twenty-five years ago, Sharla Capilla wasn't searching for a job. However, her friend was.

"I was sitting in the car while he was doing his interview," Sharla said. "The guy said, 'What about your friend because we are so shorthanded?' He said, 'Well ask her.' I put in the application, thinking I would never get it because I didn't really even try and then they called me the next day and told me to go get my uniforms."

Sharla wasn't looking for a job but she got one that's continued a quarter century,

The HOA gave Sharla a $2500 gift to recognize her 25 years working as a Sincuidados gate host. At the Pima Road gatehouse, Keith Prettyjohns, Barry Bingham and Keith Yaskin of the HOA Board of Directors surprised Sharla with the $2500 check.

Sharla remembers her first day working at Sincuidados.

"I loved it from the first day, and I love it as much now as I did the first day," she said. "You're always told to get a job that you love and it's more like play. It's work, but it's my playground."

During her time at Sincuidados, Sharla has dined with homeowners during Thanksgiving and Christmas. She also has celebrated birthdays and graduations with homeowners and their families.

"I grew up with their children," she said. "So when they graduate, it's just like a niece or nephew. Whatever is happening in their lives, it effects me, too."
Sincuidados Trashes Old Bulk Rules
The Sincuidados HOA Board of Directors voted to continue both bulk and brush pickup but homeowners should now put bulk trash such as furniture on the curb only two days instead of nine before the week of pickup. Homeowners still can put brush such as landscape trimmings on the curb nine days prior to pickup.

However, the City of Scottsdale does not allow landscapers themselves to leave trimmings for the city to collect. The city's rules require landscapers haul away their trimmings.

Scottsdale Solid Waste provides monthly brush and bulk collection for homeowners. Not all high-end subdivisions in North Scottsdale allow bulk pickup in their communities. Sincuidados does.

Some people believe this service provides an easy and convenient way for them to dispose of items too big to fit in their curbside container. However, the Board of Directors has received complaints that the amount of bulk trash left on our streets creates a poor appearance.

In a recent survey, 45.8 percent of homeowners who responded said they favor continuing both brush and bulk pickup but believe homeowners should put bulk trash on the curb only two days instead of nine before the week of pickup.

26.8 percent would prefer to leave brush and bulk collection as is.

16.1 percent would like to keep brush pickup but stop all bulk trash pickup.

The remaining 11.3 percent selected a variety of alternatives which homeowners typed in under "other.”

The survey received 168 responses.

See The Light
The HOA replaced the overhead lights at the Lone Mountain entrance. When vehicles approach, the new lights increase to a certain brightness. After vehicles pass through the gate, the lights dim to about 10 percent of their capacity to reduce light pollution.
Get Wind Of This
Sincuidados installed new windscreens on the courts.

The HOA also repainted the pony walls on the courts the same color as the clubhouse. The walls previously were bright green.
