In 2004, during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Retired SGT Emmanuel Melendez Diaz sustained life-changing injuries that still require ongoing treatment. Facing an above-the-knee amputation and severe intestinal damage, he had to leave Puerto Rico for critical medical care. That’s when The Fund stepped in, providing housing, medical support, and essential home repairs to give him stability in his recovery journey. Today, The Fund remains by Manny’s side, helping him navigate complex medical challenges and offering lifelong support.

“They gave me hope, a home, and a chance at life. When treatment wasn’t working, The Fund was there. Thank you to everyone who continues to help heroes like me.”

– Emmanuel Melendez Diaz
