A Message from our new Executive Director: Lynnette Bain

Dear Friends,

I hope this message finds you well. It is with great excitement and gratitude that I introduce myself as the new Executive Director of the Windsor-Essex County Humane Society. This is an incredible honour, and I’m deeply grateful for the strong foundation built by those who have come before me.

The work we’ve done together has already changed so many lives, and I am committed to continuing that legacy while also looking forward to an even brighter future. There’s so much potential ahead, and I’m excited to work alongside all of you to expand our services, improve the care we provide, and grow our impact in the Windsor-Essex community.

Together, we can make a lasting difference for animals waiting for their forever homes, those in need of urgent medical care, and those who simply need love and attention. Your support shapes the future of the Humane Society, helping us remain a beacon of hope for animals in need.

I’d love to hear from you and welcome any thoughts or ideas you may have as we continue this important work together. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or would like to discuss ways to be part of the Humane Society’s future.

Thank you for all that you do to help make a difference.

Warm regards,

Lynnette Bain

Bring your family, friends, and furry companions for a day of fun and giving!

A Canada Post strike is underway, which will delay the arrival of mailed donations and disrupt our ability to provide vital care to animals in need.

This is a critical time for the animals who rely on us. From medical treatments to food and shelter, delays in donations could mean delays in the care they desperately need.

If you’ve recently mailed a donation, please rest assured—we will process it as soon as it is received. However, slower turnaround times are anticipated due to the strike.

If you haven’t yet had the chance to give, there are several ways to ensure your support reaches the animals who need it most:

●      Online Giving: Visit our secure donation page at windsorhumane.org to make an immediate impact.

●      By Phone: Call us directly at 519-966-5751. Our team is available to assist during 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

●      In Person: Donations can be dropped off at 1375 Provincial Rd. in Windsor from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM.

Every dollar you give helps provide food, shelter, medical care, and a chance at a brighter future for animals in need.

We’re incredibly grateful for your continued support and your compassion for animals. Together, we can overcome this challenge and continue providing hope and care to every animal who needs us.

Don't forget to pick up your WECHS ornament!

Our Christmas ornaments are now available for purchase at the shelter! These make the perfect gift for any animal lover in your life. We have three styles at three price levels to choose from. Available in shelter while supplies last. All proceeds support shelter pets over the holiday season!

We are thrilled to be partnering with Cooper's Hawk Vineyards again this year for their popular Paw-liday Wine Gift Packages! Order wine with your pet's photo on it for the perfect holiday gift, November 28 through December 20. To place your order, click below!

Meet Bellamy Ambrose (Underdog)!

10 months - Mixed Breed - Male

Hi there, my name is Bellamy! I am a young, goofy, energetic doggo looking for an adventurous and fun home to blossom in!

I am looking for a home with people that have lots of time to dedicate to my high energy needs. I will need lots of exercise, play time, training sessions, and fun enrichment toys to thrive! The humans here said I must go home with another playful and respectful dog friend, as this is a super duper helpful outlet for my puppy energy, and it helps me with my confidence as well.

It's best I don't go home with kitty cats because I've been known to not mind my manners with them and get a bit carried about when I play. This can happen with kiddos too, so older teens might be better.

You may have noticed I'm a "underdog" adoption this is because I require a patient and understanding adopter to help set me up for success. Luckily this means my adoption fee is up to you!
