STAFF SPEAKING

Here is a note from the Membership & Events Manager, Meghan Ginter:

"September is gearing up to be a time of excitement and new adventures both at the Chamber and for me personally.

In a very short time, my husband and I will be welcoming a new addition to our family. We cannot wait to meet our beautiful baby!

We are very lucky at the Chamber to have found a wonderful individual to take over membership & events while I am away. Make sure to say hi to Laura when you are out and about at events over the next couple months!

I wish you all an amazing year and I look forward to seeing you again in fall 2017!

~Meghan

BEA WINNER PROFILE
TOURISM IMPACT AWARD - NORTHERN BRITISH COLUMBIA TOURISM ASSOCIATION

This award is presented to a Prince George based business or organization that has delivered a top quality product or service which has worked to promote tourism and hospitality for Prince George and the region. We spoke with CEO Clint Fraser about winning the award and what it meant for the organization.

How did it feel to find out you won a BEA award and to walk across the stage at the gala event?
Clint Fraser: It felt great! It's nice to receive recognition locally for your efforts and our team at Northern BC Tourism was honoured to receive the Tourism Impact Award for our work in creating the Northern BC Tourism Plaza during the 2015 Canada Winter Games.

In what ways has winning the award affected the work you do?  Did winning leave an impression or make an impact somehow?
Clint Fraser: Our organization and the work we do is built on the strength of our partnerships. The magnitude of the partnerships that it took to bring the plaza to life during the games was incredible. I think winning this award assisted in validating how important it is to collaborate and ensure you have strong partnerships and support for the work you do.

As a successful business person, do you have any advice you'd like to share with others striving for excellence?
Clint Fraser: The Northern BC Tourism Plaza was four years in the making and we experienced a ton of different challenges along the way that could have sidelined the project, but our team was passionate about making an impact for northern tourism experiences during the Canada Winter Games and persevered. Sometimes the best projects take longer than expected - build a passionate team and be persistent!
