Happy New Year from BikerDown

Well, we all made it thru another year! I sincerely hope you had a great holiday and are looking forward to the new year ahead of us. I want to apologize for the lengthy newsletter but this was a BIG year for us and we need to thank so many people.

Reflecting back on 2022, it is hard to put all that BikerDown has to be grateful for in this newsletter. I will say that without our riders and our supporters/sponsors, there would BE no Bikerdown Foundation!

·      Because of YOU, we wouldn't have been able to expand this organization to a national stage and help injured riders all over the country. We operate in Illinois/Wisconsin, Indiana, Kentucky, Alabama, Florida, New York, and Georgia. Don't forget our home base of Colorado, Nevada, and Arizona

·      Because of YOU, we wouldn't have been able to help thousands of injured riders, and send over 200 motorcycle urns to families who have experienced such tremendous losses. Mom/Dads, Wives/Husbands, and Friends/Family found comfort in knowing that they weren't alone in their grief and that their loved ones were honored in a manner fitting a motorcycle rider.

·      Because of YOU - our BDFundme fundraising program has raised over 200k for injured riders thru our fundraising platform. That means that injured riders' families had funds to enable them to survive during recovery without high processing fees like GoFundme.

·      Because of YOU - we have loaned out or mailed out medical equipment so that an injured riders can recover at home with dignity and what they need to manage their recovery

These are monumental accomplishments in a world where motorcycle riders don't have the support or assistance other sports have. They carry little, or no insurance, and recovery falls on the injured rider. We live in a world where drivers continue to hurt/hit and kill our riders because of distracted driving.

Because of YOU, riders are not alone and have someone to talk to and get help; it is not always about writing a check.

We will continue to strive to help all riders who apply or request help. We will continue the high standard that we put on our biker advocates to be authentic and guide riders thru recovery. HAPPY NEW YEAR, Ride SAFE, and remember, if you go down….WE STEP UP!

BikerDown's Adopt-A Family for the Holidays program helps over 50 families in 2022

Adopt A Family for the Holidays has been helping injured riders and our community families with assistance to help them provide Christmas under the tree. Each family receives a $250-275 Walmart gift card, food assistance and a holiday luncheon for the kids. We have been hosting this program for over 10 years and this year we had over 50 families in Colorado, Nevada and now a family in Texas. Please enjoy this video and if you would like to be a part of this program in your city just reach out to us at laurie@bikerdown.org.

What is Your New Year's Resolution?

No-one likes new years resolutions, but this year I would ask you to make some safety resolutions for 2023. Riding has become increasingly more dangerous, but riders aren't prepared for an accident and find out just how underinsured they actually are. So here are some resolutions that we hope you will do this January so you are ready for your season of riding.

  1. Consider the BD Membership - we have 2 levels that provide you real value when you ride. Click here to see our membership programs that includes nationwide roadside assistance and another level that includes the Aflac Accident Policy. Click here for more information
  2. Get an FREE Insurance Review - Riders believe the myth that full coverage means everything is covered and then find out that yes the bike is covered, but I am not covered for medical, my accessories aren't covered, and how am i going to survive 3-6-12 months of recovery? 50% of all drivers are driving with little or no coverage at all and recovery and survival will be UP TO YOU. Go to our resource page and call one of our motorcycle law firms, they will tell you what you need to have Click here to find a lawyer near you to tell you the truth.
  3. Take the Accident Scene Management class - For 13 years BikerDown and many other organizations have been hosting the ASM Basic Class founded by Vicki Sanfelipo and RoadGuardians.org. This class is vital to give you the skills to render proper first aid until EMT's can arrive on scene. BikerDown in coordination with our sponsors host classes each month or you can visit roadguardians.org and find a class near you.
  4. Upgrade your safety gear - Christmas is over, there are sales to be had at dealerships and safety gear is so important to keep you safe in the event of an accident. It can literally save your life and worth every penny you put into it. Consider a new helmet, jacket with D30 armor, better gloves, and even Kevlar jeans that will help you with roadrash.

Thank you to our Sponsors

I would be remis if I didn't give special mention to all the sponsors who have helped BikerDown. Sponsors who help every month with resources to enable us to devote 24/7/365 to helping injured motorcycle riders. The sponsors as for nothing in return except for BikerDown to keep growing and helping.
